  1. So, BAC 2009 and the sitar in their show got me thinking . . .

    ( . . .if you're not familiar with the term: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bollywood)

. . .plenty of corps have done shows based on musicals before, but what about reaching outside the influence of traditional Hollywood/Broadway for ideas?

Some of the Bollywood films I've seen over the years have been pretty cool; there's always the propensity for big song and dance numbers that translate well into large group performances, and the "item girl" performances (see link above for a reference point) could even equate to the BAC 2009 lead guard performer.

There's a definite potential for great costuming and visuals . . . and the music and basic themes tread on such a wide amount of influences that you could pull in almost anything and make it work.

    Thoughts?

I think I'd like to pass.

  2. This guy puts up clips of himself on You Tube and then makes up different usernames and uses them to comment on his own clips as if he's someone else. He calls himself the next Buddy Rich and says that Gadd is overrated and claims he has better technique than Gadd too.

The posts by 7540123 are from himself, just click on the Username and see where it takes you and that's not the only other username he uses but it is the one he use the most.

This guy friended me on facebook from someone elses' friends list and i approved him because he had Drums in his profile pic and i would've felt bad if it was someone i knew but didn't remember. He did this so he could send me clips of HIM drumming, so i could watch HIM drum. Anyway, when i read a post that proves that he claims that he has better technique than Gadd, that really bothered me. When i called him out, he called me ugly and evil,...this coming from a lawyer. innocent.gif Then he started posting nasty comments on clips of mine. Check this clip of mine:

he is Attyvbb once again click on the username and see where it takes you.........D.A.M.

He must be mental cause he's not very good. Terrible technique.

  3. Well, I figured you've got the silver medalist coming through this year, completely black uniforms (from a rumor that I heard) and lots of vets (another thing I was once again told by my friend who auditioned) along with a great season and great staff. I'm beginning to think that they will have a pretty good shot this year (as in really really good) and so what are your thoughts? I personally think that Crown and Devs will go back and forth all summer, and eventually Crown will come out on top, perhaps like a 08 score between the two.

Not going to happen. That is all.

  4. So us drummers don't mind the noise when we practice but sometimes we just need to use a pad. What do you people think is the best pad

out there? I was using a Xymox pad till it started to fall apart. I recently purchased an Invader pad from Offworld Percussion and I'm thinking

it's the best thing ever. Thoughts?

  5. In the I&E piece I referenced, he basically plays flam taps at a very respectable double stroke roll tempo...so in essence he is getting 50% more strokes per unit time than just the roll by itself. Check it out, you'll be amazed.

Go to you know where and search for Niko Jasniewicz Solo 2004.

I did and he was way better than I ever was.

  6. what if the possibilities make you wretch? And no disrespect, but paying customers ARE allowed to voice their dislikes. if you don't like reading them, maybe YOU should get off the internet...go take a hike or something...without a camera...

    OK - Here goes.... ^This

    Am I cool now?

  7. well, they are running out of tempos that anyone can play/march at.

Plus too many use tempo as a crutch like a ton of notes. ok, great you can run/play fast. what else have you got?

and, IMO, too many can't run and play well at those tempos, at least early

I really wish all corps would step back a bit, maybe slow it down and play entire pieces of music. I miss the concert piece so much.

Who didn't love it when corps would stop for a couple of minutes, on the 50, and blow your face off.
