I can only say this: I hate it when people answer threads with just one word: "this". Makes absolutely so sense at all. Over and out.
-
Going to have to agree about Cavies. They will be top 5 - probably Phantom as well. I expect Blue Stars, Madison, and Bluecoats to be very close, and Glassmen fighting to stay in the top 12, even though they will be good. Pioneer will move up a place or two with this year's program.

Thanks Bill. And I heard that the Chicken Fried Rice was really good.
Also heard from a certain balding staff member that it was a productive camp.
Go Madison!

Does any know who I could call to get a ballpark idea of when tickets might go on sale? Days, weeks, months?
I stated that Ticketmaster estimates Thursday - the guy said noonish. I'm sure DCI will make the exact time known. If it's Thursday I'm sure it will be at 11 CST.

Makes you wonder if DCI is having problems reserving the stadium because of the change in the schedule. That being said, there is something I've had on my chest for awhile... There are so many other texas stadiums that would be more suitable for hosting the Southwestern championship, or even the World Championship.
My shortlist:
The Cotton Bowl (Dallas, TX) - A great historical stadium and recently renovated. Site of the 1991 DCI World Championship. Build in Dallas' beautiful Fair Park. Has advantages of being near DFW Airport and is located on the DART public train system that connects all of the Dallas entertainment districts. Ever since LOS designers HKS build their other great masterpiece down the road, Cowboy Stadium, the Cotton Bowl no longer even hosts the actual Cotton Bowl and has been left without a purpose of sorts. DCI could solve this.
Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium (Austin, TX) - The largest outdoor stadium in Texas. On the venerable University of Texas campus. Home of the "Showband of the Southwest" Longhorn Band. This would an amazing site for a regional or world championship event. Austin is also one of the most gorgeous cities in the state and is known as the "Live Muisc Capital of the World" besides actually being the state capital. Definitely offers more in the area of tourism than San Antonio's Creekwalk. It would also be a more efficient and strategic location between Dallas and Houston. You could even talk the university to light up the Bell Tower orange and spellout "DCI" in the windows like they do for other major events. How cool would that be?
My point is Texas has so much more to offer. Why the Alamodome? There are so many more better equipped, sounding, historical, beautiful stadiums just waiting to host something like a DCI event.
Two words - Air Conditioning. That's good enough for me. Seriously though - the mix up was because Ticketmaster had the event as taking place on July 17 and the merde hit the fan when they tried to sell tickets at 11 today. I was on the phone with them when it happened. They said maybe Thursday.

Ideas: What is good for all corps? We need solutions!, We are all in this together, so let's put our heads together!
Let's keep the discussion going, folks. Fostering new and or improved ideas is good for all drum corps!
For all corps,
Ron Gunn
Nice topic for discussion but do you actually think DCI management cares what anyone on the DCP forums thinks?
-
Wondering how many times people will post on different threads that they hate electronic music and refuse to go to Indianapolis. Wonder how many polls will be put up saying this in one form or another. I'm sure the DCI folks are weeping every morning over their cornflakes, and are rushing to DCP to take the advice and correct the error of their ways.
Exactly. I completely understand why MANY people don't like Lucas Oil Stadium, Electronics, etc. Problem is the powers that be at DCI HQ don't look to DCP forums for advice on where to steer the activity. It's silly to think they do.

Wondering how many times this exact thread will be recreated.

Didn't bother to vote but even though both lines were great, neither was perfect.
-
Great idea. Most of us have a fifth vote to use, and what a great cause to use it on!
I voted!

Congrats! I have about a third of the collection myself and often waste entire Saturdays watching.

Who does everyone think might be knocked out of the top 12 by Scouts this season. If I were in the 12th-9th position last season I would be getting a bit worried.
While I'd hate to see any corps suffer because of the Scouts' upcoming awesomeness, I'd have to guess Blue Knights, Glassmen, or Troopers. Maybe a combination of those if Spirit, Colts, and Crossmen have a good showing as well.
-
And exactly when was the last time the Cadets had a bad camp? Probably before their current members were born. Can't wait to hear them play this summer.
-
Just put the entire corps in the same uniform...please.
If only that would happen! I'd probably die of a heart attack!
-
I really wish I had that much free time! Not a slam - I really would like to look stuff like this up but not enough hours in the day.
-
All the drums sounded like drums though. Nice.
-
And please remind me, why are Scouts fans who have been posting here for years being lectured on Board etiquette by someone who just joined DCP?
Vic Russell
Well, Actually I just joined but I also thought that little lecture was out of line. Oh well, got to have thick skin here on DCP I guess.
GO Madison!

DCP is full of opinions. if you dont like this one just move on.

Jim Prime arrangements or not, I've never been a fan of "Rhapsody in Blue" in the drum corps setting, and these clips did nothing to change my mind about that.
We'll see how they sound come May.
Well, It's still relatively early. After reading your opinion they'll probably throw out the music and choose something else.

Carolina Crown is just steps away from adding a $1 million addition to their budget this year, but the competitive drum and bugle corps needs help.Carolina Crown is a finalist in the Chase Community Giving contest on Facebook. The group already won round one of the process, netting $25,000. Beginning...

This thread seems like a twitter account, in which case I say, "WHO CARES??"
Joking...
You win! Not Joking.

Heh. I liked the cloud shirts. Plus, it was so much cooler (temperature, I'm talking) when we took them off.
I'm sure it felt good to take off the jackets but it looked tacky, and reminded me of WGI. I don't like to be reminded of WGI.

I have to say Crossmen, Boston, then Blue Stars.
