Simmer down sparky, just pointing out the flaws in your argument.

Was this year a departure from some things, sure, but your assessment of what the Madison Scouts are is laughable if you neglect the points I made.

But you keep being you, with your opinions and telling me to hush, or whatever your first comment was.

I not only neglect your points but generally ignore them. Your blindly defending anything the corps does - every time anyone says something remotely negative is laughable in itself, and hasn't helped Madison get better in the least. Enjoy the view from your high horse.

So having a uniform with a fleur, spats, citation cords, an Eisenhower style jacket cut, gauntlets, and a show with tuba flips, the brass sword, hat bow, a fleur, and other classic Madison moments didn't look like the Madison Scouts? As an alum, I thought the number of nods to our history was done well. But I guess you know more about our traditions and the elements, such as in this show, that define the corps.

Just shhhh - My opinion is as valid as any other.

I'm very envious of those who have been able to reach FloFlop.  The phone number given above goes right to voice mail.  The customer email was sent yesterday at 12:30MT with no reply.  During their broadcasts, they'd reply quickly for technical support.  Just spoke with DCI and was told they have no numbers and suggested I use their cust. Support email. They cannot be that busy.

My guess is they have had a bunch of calls about this very subject and don't know how to handle it yet.

  4. All I can say is I was introduced to Drum Corps in 1979. I've remained a fan but find today's product almost unwatchable. DCI corps used to be powerful, precision, and entertaining without all the dancy prancy guard - now the whole corps are dancing and prancing. Please don't even get me started on electronics. After last night I believe I'm done.

They look like a modern DCI corps with an awesome show! And the you people love it!!!

Not sure what you meant here but this is the first year I can remember ever truly completely disliking a Madison show. Even relampago was better than this even though I hated those uniforms as well. .

You may well be right. For some number of us, however, the costumes aren't moronic. The show really is cool, aggressive, and even fun Madison Scouts. It's not like that for everyone, of course, which is an obvious consequence of something that is subjective. For me, this year's show is way better than 2016 and even better than the 8th place 2015.

It's the same thing this year with singers. I don't like them at all. That's just a personal preference. BAC and Crown and Cadets are doing pretty well with what I consider gross design elements. And it's amazing that plenty of fans - the MMs paying fees, too - apparently like this stuff and don't, instead, agree with me.

I hope this marks the beginning of a more consistently better, bolder Scouts. I hope it attracts talent. At the same time, I'll also be thrilled when they find the right moments to throw back to some jazzier music, a company front, and the traditional uni.

I respect your opinion. I hope the Scouts can find a way to stay competitive  but actually look like a drum corps.

Great point. And accomplishing this with such a dramatic change, and with all the accompanying angst that surrounded it, will certainly be a big deal for the Scouts now and in the future.

I want to see the Scouts make finals as much as the rest of you folks but at what cost? Are they going to continue donning moronic costumes forever? Hint - BD looks like BD and they are in the lead. The costumes were an unnecessary expense - especially for a corps still digging out of debt.

  8. Well on the bright side the Scouts are opening up a gap between themselves and the Mandarins. That's something. Hopefully when they see going all Mad Max meets The Last of the Mohicans didn't do anything for them they'll go back to their iconic look and just do what they do best - Wow the audience.
