  1. New Empire Statesmen Staff: We are pleased to announce that Lee Beddis will be joining the Empire Statesmen as Percussion Arranger. Lee has marched center snare with the Garfield Cadets, worked with Madison Scouts, Star of Indiana and Phantom Regiment. In one year Lee took the job of rebuilding the Glassmen Percussion to be one of the best in the world, he remained with the Glassmen till 2000.Since 2001, Lee has been with the Crossmen. Lee is very excited to bring his experience, and talent to make this percussion section a force to contend with in the DCA 2003 season. Ted Mascari moves up in the ranks to Percussion Caption Head for 2003. Over 14 years he has directed several marching bands percussion programs. Teddy has instructed with the Syracuse Brigadiers, Rochester Crusaders, Empire Statesmen (2 DCA titles) and Rochester Patriots Jr. Corps (1999 DCI high percussion and division II title). Rod Wills becomes our Percussion Assistant bringing many years of corp experience. Rod has marched with several drum corps including Rochester Crusaders, Syracuse Brigadiers and several seasons with The Empire Statesmen. He has been involved in 3 undefeated seasons 1994, 1998 and 2001.He has won numerous championships in Canada and 6 DCA championships in 91, 94, 98, 2000 and 2001.We are pleased to have Rod’s experience and leadership with our staff. Dawn Marie Mackiewicz joins the Statesmen as a marching tech. Dawn started marching with the Sunrisers (93-96), Blue Devils (97-99), Syracuse Brigadiers (2000-2001) and currently with The Empire Statesmen. Dawns awards include Jim Ott Brass trophy 3 years with the Blue Devils, 2 DCI championships and 2 DCA championships with the Syracuse Brigadiers. We are very excited to have her on staff. Patsy Van Kirk becomes a snare tech. Patsy taught numerous bands and was drum captain for the Reading Buccaneers and The Empire Statesmen .We are excited to add her to our drum staff. Tom Norton becomes the Pit Ensemble Instructor. Tom has worked with several bands and was the Pit Instructor for the Rochester Patriots. We are happy to have him on board. Returning Staff for the 2003 season: Joe Guadagnino has been with the corps since 1997.He was our Percussion Caption Head in 1997 and 1998, two of our better drum lines. Joe will serve as our Staff Coordinator. The Statesmen are lucky to have him. Al DiCroce is our ENERGETIC and DEDICATED Arranger. Dave Hawthorne as Brass Caption Head assisted by Shawn Halquist and Jamie Gibbs. We are happy to have Dr.Adam Brennan returning as our Pit Arranger. Heading up our Color Guard program will be Mary Yandow assisted by Mike Heaney. Jamey Thompson returns as our Drill Designer. Marching Techs Ben Potts, Neal Sengalaub, Steve Smardon, and Kevin Shea also return. We are putting together the most creative and energetic staff in the business.
