This guy has to be a troll
There’s always a couple that come out every year to the end of the finals thread, like clockwork

the rock guitar guy just does not work for me in parts of this show.
It’s too Western Carolina University for me in a drum corps show, but it’s also kinda cool. Conflicted.

It's worth noting that in 2016 - five competitive years ago? (ignoring 2020 and 2021) - Mandarins, Troopers, Colts, and Madison were finished on Friday night., with BAC coming from behind and claiming 12th
Apologies for being that “actually” guy 🙃

I don’t always like their choices, but BD really knows how to set up dramatic tension between music/visual like none other.

I was there until Vespertine. I will still listen to her, but I dont follow as closely. Post is my favorite album. The influence from Tricky made that album pop. Oh to be in my 20s again
I did a class presentation on Homogenic in the 8th grade. Needless to say, I wasn’t a popular kid in my small podunk town in ‘98.

I feel like the moves Arthur does in this section after the ballad are more jester than king.

I love Wagner and I love Bjork. Maybe I'll put them on shuffle tomorrow and see if anything else works together.
Every Bjork album is different from the next, so might as well 🤷🏻♂️

Love the show, wish they wouldn't kill the whale at the end.
Such a good show but the ending is pretty corny, imo. Many like it. Would’ve been fine with the whale overtaking the guard member, doesn’t have to be a killing could be the ocean.

I love the interviews with show designers, it's fascinating to get a look inside their heads
Will never see The Cut Outs the same way again😳 And I'm totally fine with that. Would love BD to go all-out "dark show" one year
Did you see 2013? 2000 is their film noir show, could use a retread.

Another show with only 5 corps?
Why bother going?
The DCI model cannot function with only a handful of corps
to spread around.
Was this written on LinkedIn?

What was that Show titled where they ride out onto the field with the bicycle and the guard incorporate handlebars into their equipment work?
Le Tour: Every Second Counts from 2008. I always forget the subtitle for these shows.

I heard they have a live baby that shoots out of the table which is pulled down to the sideline in the middle of the Crown set. Kinda like inferno when the guard member popped out of the white fabric. I like it. A lot.
I heard they shoot the baby out of a king cake. People will be calling for Rick Subel’s resignation.

Well Keith Potter and Crowns guard and design staff went to Boston, so there is that.
But if competition is the least interesting thing, then why have it?
That’s actually what I meant with Crown lol. Scores add to the story for the fans over the season and give us some level of interest, but you never bring a newcomer to a show just to hear the scores at the end. That’s all I mean.

Sure there is variety in DCI, but variety is not winning. Isn't lack of competition at the top also at the peril of this activity?
Maybe, but it’s just what judges prefer at this time. They’re just good at finding out what judges prefer in any given era. Same with the changeover the last couple of years towards the preference for Boston’s guard approach. It’s not like Crown didn’t have that same approach for the decade before minus 2009–11, but it was down to the panel’s style preference on a given night (‘13, ‘15). Competition is the least interesting thing, but it gives people something to talk about.

So are the aussies completely gone? Guard reminds me a little of 2002, but modernized with more detail.

It’s been leaked for almost a week now, with uni and repertoire for a bit longer. Leaks will be irrelevant very soon
Ah, I figured as much. I’m not following as closely this year. It’s a bad quality video regardless.

Leak of the first half of the show is on the clock app IYKYK. You’ll see a much better quality version soon, so I’d wait.

Guard costuming by Lordi? 😄
Would this be the ballad?
I’m fine with whatever they decide as long as they include this:

Valhalla themed show from SCV or Phantom. Featuring music from Wardruna, Aurora, some Scandinavian metal bands, throw in a standard.
