  1. Kingston Grenadiers will be spending this weekend in Smith's Falls Ontario. We will doing a parade and concert on Saturday. The parade is at noon and the concert at 2:30pm. The balance of the weekend will be a camp as we are now full and can work on preparing for the Storm in Lawrence Mass. on the 24th of July. DLD

  2. Give us a couple of weeks to get all the cars of that steaming train you talk about on track. The cars are in the yard and the engine is hooking them up, just need to make sure the caboose is attached before we move out on the main line...... all aboard!

Like it DD better than all your ducks in a row eh........

  3. Way cool... maybe I'll have to go "home" that weekend and catch the parade... at one time, there was always a contest after the parade and all the corps had to march it... Grenadiers competed many times in Oswego... Funny thing is I think I won that show with all three of my Alma Maters... I know both Cru and Brigs won there when I was with them and pretty sure Gauchos won there probably in 64...

Don't forget to go "around the loop" on the lakeshore out past the college and get some great hots with the best hot sauce at Rudy's...

Actually my Mom and the Jones brothers took me to that show as a young fella and I remember the Gaucho's and the Grennies were competing that evening Tom. If I can make it to Rudy's I will give it a go.

  4. Now that's about the best recruiting offer I have ever heard! Too bad I can't take salt or drink anymore!

Thats a sacrifice for sure but there has to be an able bodied Contra wondering around who needs a good home. Just cross the border and left turn.

  5. It'll be the Devils and the Blackhawks in the final :)

Two days till camp in Kingston. There are a few spots left so check it out www.kingstongrenadiers.com.........stormgasm folks!

Off to Mr.Muggs tomorrow night in Scranton for some a pre DCA meeting strategy session or beer and a hockey game. Being Canadian I bet you know the answer to that one.

    Cheers DLD

  6. Something doesn't seem right..... hoser Dean to Scranton PA. PA hoser going to Kingston? Beep the horn on 81 as we pass each other. Bring Grotto's back North, while I stock up on the Tim Horton's.

  7. Very Exciting Mr. Dean!

A brand new "Stormgasmic" Intro being taught this weekend, and looking forward to some good reps and run-throughs! Sections are filling up, and this is the last camp to decide to be part of a great program for the 2010 DCA summer schedule!

The Design team is in house for the weekend and we have use of a great facility in Holy Cross School, so here's to a great camp weekend Grenadiers!

more info at: Official Website of the 2010 Kingston Grenadiers

I am looking forward to good vibes once I return from Scranton. Imagine reps!

    Good stuff Scott.

  8. Well the hockey playoffs are here and after this upcoming camp April 17/18 we then move outdoors to our Spring location at Innovation Park in Kingston. The corps is growing and we do have like most corps have spots still available to be filled. If are interested check our homepage out for details. We are very pleased to date with our progress and the corps continues to grow slowly after our return to DCA. So check out Stormwork"s"Without Warning" and find out what all the members refer to as "Stormgasm" is all about.

  9. This will be great to have archived.

As for lowest scores ever received... they will have to go back to the tick era for sure as you now get 40 or more if the bus driver finds the stadium.. I can remember plenty of 20's but am having a hard time going into the teens...

I'll almost guarantee you that I was - unfortunately - part of the lowest score ever received by a MAJOR finalist corps when Brigs scored 35 and change in 1970 - a score that I believe was unjustified to this day. Some judges just got carried away due to an incomplete, not prepared show. That score killed this proud corps. Had this not happened, I guarantee we would have been in the 60's the following week, but that was not to happen. The current system is far more forgiving and starting the season in the high 50's is a lot more paletable than a 35.

Right you are Tom. I remember being thrown under the bus with Grenadiers on several occasions in the early 70's. We actually won a show and one of the few times we finished ahead of Guelph I might add and scored under a 50. There was a tabulation error a result of blurred vision from counting tics and it was annouced incorrectly only to find out later we had finished 1st!

  10. The camp is actually Saturday March 13th at Jefferson Middle School in Jefferson New Jersey from 10 to 6. Sunday March 14th we have two parades in New Jersey.

As for not taking 10 members in the spring, if it was not for the new uniforms I would say yes in a heart beat however from what I have seen in my many of years of Drum Corps ...........that does not happen, and if so it was because of a breakup or something out of the normal.

Yes you will lose a few and gain a few but the bottom line is you know what size line you will have after a month.

It is not fair to those who are there all the time to march surrounded by holes for potential members and if they don't come the members who were there all year have to adjust and relearn their drill.

    Not Cool!!!!

    Be Consistant and good.

You're either on the bus or off!!!!

    Just my 2 cents

It is never easy then it wouldn't be drum corps Fusion will be just fine and they have the track record to make it work. All the best from up North and say Hi to Eddie for me. See you in Scranton.

    Cheers Don

  11. Well I am thankful for the warm temps as our corps truck is a warm weather beast and everything works on it when the temp rises. We did a complete run through this past weekend and it has been another large step forward.

Membership is pleased and very supportive of what we are doing no hype just performance and getting the job done.

It will be one of the best prepared corps to date and it has been a while and our target is Rochester July 3rd to arrive confident and ready for the summer. We would also like to pay a visit to the Cambridge On. area in late August which raised a warm response from the corps. We needed a gig in Ontario and to help our Drum Corps community in Canada.

The Alumni scene is doing so well. If you have the opportunity to check any feedback on facebook etc. the feeling here is we have a product that will make for a solid showing this year. We are about a month from outside and looking forward to putting together the visual component under the very capable Duane DeWire. So like most we are still filling spots so stay in touch for updates or better yet show up in person. www.kingstongrenadiers.com

  12. After a successful tour to Alexandria Bay New York we are back home this weekend. It was a great camp and we are building on that success this weekend as we finish this years book off and will be able to return to the "top left corner". For details check out our page and like most we have room for more bodies so if you are Canuckian or American give it some consideration. Love to see you eh..........

  13. Well now, That was fun! -6 F on Sunday morning standing by the bay looking at Boldt Castle. Thanks for the weekend! A little trouble getting out of snow covered PA, but once on the road, smooth sailing to the border! Great meet and greet Saturday night. Introduction of the mummers and stories. Plus a great visual session Sunday.

    Thanks fellow hosers!

Our pleasure DD. We have a very excited group and lots of positive vibes. Ensemble went well and we have spots to fill. They functioned far better than the corps truck did on the weekend. Great visual session and the gospel according to Duane is always entertaining. Our next camp is Feb.20/21st in the great white north and more info is available on our home page. www.kingstongrenadiers.com

    Cheers DLD
