You think that Bluecoats are capable of winning an Ott this year? Even though virtually all of their brass staff went to SCV? I personally think its a big stretch, even though their brass was superb last year, no doubt, but it will be difficult to push back into that higher territory immediately after their 4 placement drop and loss of much of their best staff. I'm not familiar with most of the staff for this year, so I'm curious to hear your reasoning behind it.
If you heard them play this early you would agree. They are playing extremely well for being so early in the season. I was watching early rehearsals at the camps and some staff members who have been involved with championship corps made comments stating this is the best they've heard a corps in January. They kept a Brass Co-Caption head, their Brass supervisor and arranger have been there forever, same tuba guy. The hornline really picked up where they left off from last year. The Coats first impact in Akron will turn heads and no one will look away.

I don't have time for a real detailed top 12 right now but based on my current understanding of shows, staff and the progress of the corps thus far here is what I think:
1. Crown (Only if their guard and percussion step up a little, if not, put the Bluecoats here)
2. Bluecoats (I would bet money that they earn the Jim Ott this year)
3. Blue Devils
4. Cavaliers
5. Cadets
6. Santa Clara
7. Phantom Regiment
8. Madison Scouts
9. Boston Crusaders
10. Blue Knights
11. Spirit of Atlanta
12. Blue Stars (or Glassmen, I can't make a decision here)

At least he posted the "Crown Music Code" and not the source.
What do you mean by that?
-
Somebody posted a video of him playing through Crown's show music thus far on baritone. I don't want to post the link because he probably shouldn't have done this to begin with. I am just wondering if there are thoughts on this.

Dude....Its so on now. Didn't I send you those Coats' recordings? Guess you weren't diggin em. Oh well. I got your ### this summer. And yeah, bentley knows who I am but for those who don't, I teach Bluecoats.
Love the show thus far. I can't wait to see you in the top 3!

That's not the show. I'll say that right now.

<"The Iron Stable: The Past is the Future" >
Where is the 300 word paragraph full of adjectives, though saying nothing?
I'm very confused right now.

<Many many babies. This year may quiet many fans holding to old school drum corps. >
Sounds like code for 'we're going whole hog...with a 15 synthesizer pit!' - and s/he's predicting we'll love it...
I'm not sure I would enjoy that. I would say however they are going whole hog.

Is it wrong of me to think that you gave away a little bit too much with this? I think it's just because I know the show concept and music already haha
Considering there is 40 years behind us I'll be shocked if someone guesses it. Plus it's such a new spin the Bluecoats made it their own. I gave away nothing. I just can't wait to hear the reactions!

Crown '09, no question. I still scratch my head at why that show didn't win.
-
I can't wait to hear it live. I got the opener midi sent to me from another alum. I can't wait to hear it live. All I need to say as well is to bring your catapults and plenty of babies.
Many many babies. This year may quiet many fans holding to old school drum corps.

You won't have to worry about the "entertain me" part!!!
I wouldn't be surprised if they medal either!

I am very excited for the Bluecoats this year. The show is an incredible concept and the hornline sounded amazing during the call-back camp. I can't wait to see how they move in the rankings and I expect a great reaction from the crowd during their opener.

Wouldn't it be cool if someone performed the 1812 Overture in 2012? Yes, I know it was actually written in 1880, but 1812 to 2012 just has a nice ring to it. Fingers crossed.
I would be surprised seeing as BAC just did it last year. You never know though, I can never get enough of that piece!

It's not a "Copland Show".
It isn't. Coming from trustworthy sources within Crown it is not a Copland show. I won't reveal what the show is in respect for the corps but I feel like someone should check their sources before throwing around show claims.
Coming from somebody who has made that mistake before about a corps :)

I received the blu-ray yesterday and I'm very pleased with it. The quality is phenomenal and and the sound is as close to being there as it can get. I have yet to watch the Cadets (I'm still a little bitter about not seeing the demons win at least once ) but the other corps were masterfully done.

And? Are they good Quality? Are Crown and Cavies on the DVDs?
I contacted DCI yesterday to ask if the cuts were on the DVD/Blu-rays and they said the cuts ARE included due to licensing issues with David Bowie and Rihanna.
-
Just got off the phone with a customer service rep and he said there is nothing they can do. I asked why we were not informed of this months ago and he said it was only small changes to the show and they didnt think it was important to post. This just pisses me off.
Not important to post?! Every change is important, especially if the change is most of Crown's pre show.
-
I am really happy about that. Hopefully the rumors of them running into severe financial trouble aren't true though.
-
What seems to be going on with the Glassmen? Their website has closed up and I have heard some rumors that the corps may be closing up here very soon.
Anyone know anything?
-
This seems to be a great move for the Glassmen as a corps that needs some kind of spark.
