If this is your first Drum Corps experience, or even your first time at a Bushwackers’ camp, here are a few tips on how to succeed and leave with a smile on your face: 1) Be Prepared. Your time here is about having fun, not stressing out. Make sure to have the following with you: A great attitude of wanting to have an amazing time while getting world-class instruction Sneakers Equipment. We will have MANY people at Open House. Extra stuff is always good to have around. Brass Bring a horn if you can, in case we run short A mouthpiece Valve oil Towel (Navy Blue), sizeable for under your instrument when laid on the ground Three-ringed binder w/ sheet protectors Percussion Sticks or mallets A Practice pad An extra snare/tenor/bass drum with stand. The more the merrier! Three-ringed binder w/ sheet protectors Guard Your own Rifles/Sabres if desired. Your own pole and silk if desired. Athletic/Dance appropriate clothing Pencils! A great attitude. In case you missed that one :) 2) Ask A LOT of Questions!! Be Wrong! It’s OK! That's the only way you know what's right, and how we know what information we need to be emphasizing. . 3) Make Friends Before Coming Make sure to say hello and introduce yourself in our 2014 Bushwackers Interest group as well as the individual 2014 Brass, Guard, and Percussion groups. Message your caption heads and vets to ask questions, say hi, or just geek out. We love doing that! 4) Make Sure We Know You Are Coming! Why? We want to make sure we are prepared with food, equipment, etc. We need to make sure we can get you a ride or help with anything you need to succeed before Open House! RSVP-ing is easy…go to www.bushwackers.org and click on the REGISTER link by the Open House announcement. It takes like 30 seconds. 5) If you are under 18, tell your parents about the Open House PARENT MEETING at 1pm We will have a special session at Open House just for Parents to get specific info on the details and schedule of marching for a season. Information is key for you AND your family to be successful in Drum Corps. We want everyone involved!! 6) This is NOT an AUDITION! We don’t do that here. We don’t cut people. If you want to be a Bushwacker, we will always have a place for you in the Corps. 7) RELAX, and see #6 Follow this list, and you will walk in already successful. We look forward to meeting every one of you! See you in 7 days. The Bushwackers Open House Team

  14. 2014 Percussion Staff September 26, 2013 As we prepare for the 2014 Season, The Bushwackers have always and will always commit to the members, staff, administration, and fans of the organization. Come and experience what this great organization is about at our Open House on Sunday, November 24, 2013 in the Princeton, NJ area starting at 11 am. With a great staff, dedicated administration, and top-notch facilities, all that's missing right now is YOU!! With that in mind, we are proud to announce the Percussion Staff for 2014! We are excited to welcome Jason Keller as our new Percussion Caption Head. Jason comes to us with a wealth of drum corps experience and was most recently on the percussion staff for the Madison Scouts 2012 and 2013 seasons. His drum corps performance experience includes marching in the Jersey Surf and the Blue Stars, and he has also marched in the WGI World-class indoor percussion line, United Percussion. Jason has worked with several high school band programs in the tri-state area and is currently the Percussion Caption Head for Cab Calloway School of the Arts. Jason looks forward to building on the traditionally strong Bushwackers percussion section and taking the section to new levels of performance. Another new staff member, although not new to the Bushwackers, is our very own Alyssa Colaluca. Alyssa was part of the 2012 and 2013 I&E Cymbal Ensemble Champions with the Bushwackers. She brings with her over 10 years of drum corps experience marching with the Bushwackers and with the Sunrisers. She has also marched in the Penn State Indoor Drumline and has taught several high school marching programs in the New Jersey area. Alyssa is excited to again be a part of the Bushwackers, this time as part of the Percussion Staff! Returning in his role as Percussion and Program Consultant is Robbie Robinson, a member of the World Drum Corps Hall of Fame (2007). Robbie's Performance Resume is legendary, marching with the Blue Devils and Crossmen, and winning individual Snare solos in both DCI and DCA I&E Competitions. He has also led the Reading Buccaneers as well as The Bushwackers to winning several High Percussion Caption awards. Rounding out the staff are the returning instructors from the 2013 season. Please see their bios by clicking on their names: Rob Thatcher – Battery Arranger Colin Bell – Front Ensemble Arranger Matt Mozer – Snare Technician Eric Carr – Quad Technician Jayson Hart-Smith – Bass Technician Anthony Graves – Front Ensemble Technician Ross Chu – Front Ensemble Technician We would also like to thank Mike Rabinowitz, our former Percussion Caption Head, for his tireless dedication and many years of service. 18. The 2013 Bushwackers season is in the books and we had a FANTASTIC FINISH! The Bushwackers got back into Finals after a 2 year absence and placed 8th in both Prelims and Finals at Annapolis this year. The faces of the members were beaming all weekend long. This was due in large part to our OUTSTANDING DONORS! Thanks to the 300+ Donors, the Corps was able to survive its hardship 2 years ago and still exist today. Without these Donors, The Bushwackers would not exist, nor would we be able to provide new uniforms and other equipment that the Corps needs. However, there are more people to thank for the Bushwacker Success. Thank you Admin and Volunteers, because of your help, the members only had to worry about their job: playing, spinning, marching. Thanks to the great Admin and Volunteers, we were able to settle all logistical issues before members even stepped foot onto the rehearsal sites. Thank you FANS! Because of your continued support throughout the years, the Bushwackers Admin, Staff, Volunteer, and Members always kept a positive mindset and pushed on forward. ALL OF YOUR EFFORTS OFF THE FIELD translated to our success ON THE FIELD, and for that we are forever grateful. We Are: The Bushwackers But more importantly, We Are: Forever Grateful
  19. Friends, Alumni, and Fans of The Bushwackers and DCA, We have been hard at work over the last 24 hours along with the Pennsauken school district to get the show back on schedule. We are happy to say we've been able to address any facility issues and the show will go ahead as scheduled! There will be some workarounds we have to make with the main entrance gate and walkways to bathrooms as well as parking. We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but it will not affect the performance field or the seating in the stadium. So rest assured that the audience will get to experience the best performance each corps has to offer. Due to the interruption and inconvenience to our fans, we are lowering the general admission ticket price to $10, with children under 6 free. Reserved center section is still available at $20. The following corps will be in competition: Heartliner from GermanyExcelsiorShenandoah Sound and your hosts, The Bushwackers! Reilly Raiders will perform in exhibition.
