And what narrative would that be? Quite interesting that you have me all figured out
The narrative that places your opinion and preference over trained judges who are physically there to assess a show?

So we can all of a sudden compare scores between different shows and state placements and spreads as facts?
So we can all of a sudden say a score is inflated because it doesn't fit the narrative that we prefer?

First West vs East/Midwest matchup tonight. Wondering how it’ll play out, but I think BD will win by at least a point.
By how much do the Devils need to beat Cavies by to put them theoretically above Coats?
-
An also interesting tidbit, BD and SCV have been within a point from each other in every head-to-head meeting since the start of July 2017.
-
BD wins CG and Perc, SCV takes all other captions.

Yeah, seems like Gaines is going the route of Effective Staging instead of Drill.

Are they using the (for lack of a better term) "amped ensemble within the hornline" again this year?
No. They have amped soloist interspersed throughout the show but not a dedicated small ensemble like 2017.

Please let this be their closer.... it has classic DCI finale written all over it.

As always, BD looks to have no weaknesses. A great show that was performed well but lost some steam in the last 1:30 minutes. Compared to Vanguard, their show is a lot more accessible. I have them over SCV by 1.5 tonight. It’s going to be hard to beat BD this year.

Scv’s second production is KILLER. And the ballad too. Unsure about the dancing section and the closer still has yet to be seen but I say this show has more legs than Bloo, Crown, and Cavies.
Now we’ll see where BD falls into place.
Edit: also, their prop integration is the most seamless out of all the corps this year. Really impressive.

The whole Boston-will-be-top-3 meme needs to stop. The difference in performance levels between them and those above them were vast tonight— completely different leagues in my eyes and ears.

Me thinks this bodes well for SCV, seeing is that this was their first time performing the new closer. Once it gets clean, it'll be interesting how they compete against BD. SCV's brass is going to be the biggest factor in deciding if they come in 1st or 2nd come finals week. Mark my words

where are these extra decimals coming from?
Crown guard 85.5 / 84, Cadets 87.5 / 86
some other captions too
is this a change?
Yeah, judges can score with 0.5's now. Lots more room to place corps and prevents insane 99+ scores a la BD 2014.

GE1 Visual, GE2 Music.

Whoa. GE scores are close between top 3. I say it's a two-horse race. Crown's percussion and colorguard are going to keep them out of the running. And if SCV wants to beat BD, their colorguard cannot have a off night and brass has to be top 3. That's the only way I see it happening.

Has anyone mentioned whether BD had electronic issues? The bass was relentless all show. Like one of those cars that drive by my house with bass thumping all over the neighborhood. Is that the sound they want?
Yes, that is indeed the sound that they want.

Top 4 are amazing and I appreciate how theyre all so strong for different reasons. I'm hoping that the spreads are a lot closer than last night!

Interesting observation - Crown and BD are incredibly complex shows, but the only two out of the top 4 that are clearly drum corps shows. A great mix of both classic and modern day drum corps.
And they both where shako's, so there's that.
"clearly drum corps shows"
completely meaningless string of words you put out there.

Well BDs candle must be a raging inferno since they are 4-0 against SCV. And yes i know they haven't went head to head since July 2nd. But a win is win.
winning ≠ having the better show

Both percussion judges had SCV over Coats by 0.3. JONZ!

Maybe Bluecoats had one of those bad runs again tonight? Hmmm?

You took it too literally. It's perfectly good logic. It's was a concept that it looks as if some got...
Forgive my liberties, but I wrote it that way for a reason...
SCV hasn't scored higher than BD. ...and I believe that Bluecoats are ahead of BD. So if SCV can not outscore BD, then they certainly aren't going to outscore Bluecoats.
...but I didn't feel the need to go into that level of explanation when what I wrote basically implies that.
It may be logical think but not sound thinking. Your belief that BC is ahead of BD is simply that, a belief-- not fact.

And all I meant by my comment was that I found the judge's 'opinion' more valid that yours. Were you even there at the show? I presume not, which makes your opinion that SCV's score was inflated unequivocally and totally unfounded. You can share all the opinions that you want, as long as others can point out how laughable some of them are.
lol.
