  1. And I remember my legs almost went out from under me whenever I heard, "Blue Devils."

I was outside the stadium rounding up my kids to get headed towards the bus, but we could hear the scores out the PA system. There was some lady balling her eyes out when they said Blue Devils. She was so happy Phantom won. That win was also a personal for me. Alot of guys that I marched with/taught in indoor when they were little fetuses were in that drumline. Huge accomplishments for those guys and every instructor that taught them in Americanos Indoor and Pioneer Indoor.

  2. Blue Devils: masters of marching technique. Hands down the best marchers in the activity. Glide across the field like Jesus on water.

Cadets come on a close second.

I would give Cavaliers props, but I dont care for the marching technique. No matter how good they march, it still look sloppy. Good thing their drill is always well design. Yes, including this year. Hinshaw did a decent job with the drill, hes not getting enough credit. Did guys really expect him to outdesign Gaines? Give him time, he's no rookie.

  3. Lots of suggestions, but dont you think the staff know the kids capabilities?

With the group of guys they have and their talent level, the uniforms work. Not visually strong and the dark colors help hide it. White belt change to black was smart. Made company fronts look dirty because the belts weren't all at the same height, something they have no control over.

As mentioned, a dark, color minimum uniform allows the colorguard flags to really do their part in selling the show visually.

  5. Im only 26. When I started marching, we toured locally. Our tour included few conpetitions, parades, exhibitions, concerts and a heavy focus on community involvement. 12 years later and this concept is basically foriegn. The activity has shifted to a competetive focus and its destroying it.

All the issues for bragging rights. Sad. Cant really blame drum corps, it happening with society as a whole. Self-destructing.
