DEFENDING WORLD CHAMPIONS, MINNESOTA BRASS DRUM AND BUGLE CORPS, HOST OPEN REHEARSALS LEADING UP TO DCI MINNESOTA
The defending Drum Corps Associates World Champion, Minnesota Brass, would like to invite to you to two up coming open rehearsals in preparation for the largest drum corps event ever held in the Twin Cities area.
MINNEAPOLIS, July 9, 2012 - On Wednesday, July 11 at Chanhassan High School from 6-10 p.m. and Friday July 13th at Mounds View High School from 6-10 p.m. Minnesota Brass drum and bugle corps will be opening full rehearsals for the public and media. Guests are free to visit any time, but the full ensemble will rehearse in the stadiums starting at 8:30 p.m. each evening. The corps is preparing for the upcoming DCI Minnesota competition, the largest drum corps event ever held in the Twin Cities, on Saturday, July 14 starting at 1:30. DCI Minnesota will be held at TCF Bank Stadium on the U of M campus.
"DCI Minnesota" will feature 25 performing groups accounting for more than seven hours of family entertainment. With the first group performing at 1:30 p.m., spectators are encouraged to come anytime and stay as long as they want. The event is one of 115 stops across the nation that make up the annual Drum Corps International Tour.
From June through mid-August, the DCI Tour features ensembles comprised of up to 150 brass musicians, percussionists and dance performers ages 14 to 22. Each of these elite groups travel more than 10,000 miles and rehearse an average of 10 hours a day to compete at the highest levels of musical and performance excellence in venues that include the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena and INVESCO field at Mile High in Denver. The culmination of the tour will be the 2010 Drum Corps International World Championships, taking place August 9-11 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
Staged on a football field, corps' performances feature spellbinding visual formations and stunning choreography set to musical arrangements comprised of an array of classical, jazz, pop and rock music … from George Gershwin and Gustav Maher to John Bon Jovi and Lady Gaga.
Audience members will be treated to performances by the world's finest drum corps. Competing ensembles include: The defending 2011 Drum Corps International World Champions, The Cadets (Allentown, PA), the defending 2011 Drum Corps Associates World Champions, and local favorites, Minnesota Brass (St. Paul, MN), Blue Devils (Concord, CA), The Cavaliers (Rosemount, IL), Carolina Crown (Ft. Mill, SC), Phantom Regiment (Rockford, IL), Santa Clara Vanguard (Santa Clara, CA), Bluecoats (Canton, OH), Boston Crusaders (Boston, MA), Blue Knights (Denver, CO), Madison Scouts (Madison, WI), Blue Stars (La Crosse, WI), Spirit of Atlanta (Atlanta, GA), and 13 other World, Open and All-Age drum corps.!
