  1. There were many other venues that were on the OC tour that had full stadiums 1500 plus and its not the score or the show that means drum corps its the journey ask any member from the 60s 70s 80s etc what score they got at any given show they will not remember but ask them about their memories and it will all come back to them same as any OC corp its the journey no differnt than WC journey its just shorter

  2. The Board of Directors and the staff of the FAMQ would like to offer their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Mr Pierre St-Jean.

Mr. St-Jean has worked within the corps of drums and Bugles and choreographic sets for countless years. The creation of the Phoenix of Victoriaville and the Circuit of choreographic ensembles, the arrival of a regional WGI in Montréal, the establishment of a positive philosophy on the assessment as well as the transmission of his passion and his knowledge are part of the heritage left to us.

On the part of all members, educators, reviewers and administrators who knew you, thank you. Goodbye, Pierre! (Translated by Bing)

  3. I'm a TEP, and I disagree. The top corps are too expensive and increase the price of our contract way more than we can sell enough extra tickets to make up the difference. In case you didn't know, the top corps are getting $5,000 per show. That is a huge increase in the past few years. The next level down gets $3,000 and below the top 12 gets $2,000. So I would rather have 2 non finalist corps rather than one top 6 - save a $1,000 and be able to advertise more corps appearing. (As I said earlier, we've seen very little difference in ticket sales based on our lineup. We had 2 top 3 a couple of years ago and advertised the heck out of that and... no difference from the year before when we had no top 3) You probably know that we don't get to pick our show line ups, so I can't say to DCI -" no top 6 please and give me more non-finalists." But if I could, I would. And I can't say this is true for all shows of course, but it is absolutely true of mine. (Many years in now so lots of data to support this)

OK here is a chance to help out Open Class with all the money your show generates you could host an Open Class show and support all the corps there and they would actually get paid for apearing and help support the grass roots of the activity and still bring in one or two of the big guys 16 corps line up wow

  4. So after DCI votes down the power-grab proposal by SE7EN, who are not yet prepared to leave DCI, should DCI (or can DCI) take any other action as regards SE7EN, or should DCI kick the can down the road? The letter is clear that this proposal is the way in which SE7EN would "remain as active members of Drum Corps International through the years to come". Is there anything that DCI, having shot down the kill-the-competition proposal, as they must, could do to prevent the split from happening in 2014?

Let them return and position them 1st on in open class and then everyone will come into the show at the beggining and probably stay and enjoy some Open Class love

  5. BTW - DCI board needs women. Dead serious.

If the DCI board had women, less #### would be tolerated and men would behave better.

    We learned this with programmers....

Want to get a programmer to step up his game? Hire a woman to write code near him.

He'll step up his game, not wanting to be shown up by a woman. He'll also bathe more regularly. :-)

She will take every opportunity she can to keep him in check.

    Everyone wins.

Just so you are aware there is a female member on the DCI BOD

  6. Amen to that, brother. And with that in mind, I have a proposal for this new fresh approach. DCI board, appoint a Commissioner. Give him absolute power. Just like professional baseball, hockey, basketball, etc. do. And I have just the person in mind, someone who is not a member of any junior corps or on the BOD or in the "7". Yes, a new, fresh, independent benevolent despot. I give you...

    Mr. Scott Stewart.

And while we're on a roll, it's time for a fresh new direction. I suggest the following few decisive steps:

    1. To the "7", buh-bye. Off you go, we wish you the best.

    2. To the new DCI, we're going to rebrand and distinguish ourselves. Our mission will be excellence and crowd appeal. Therefore...

    3. The use of Amps and electronics is hereby revoked.

    4. The score sheets are to be re-worked to place the emphasis back on brass performance and less on visual.

    5. The tour will have a Regional focus with the exception of the first 2 weeks in August. Regional circuits such as DCE and DCM will be reestablished. This will be done to cut costs.

    6. We will work to find a permanent outdoor venue to host our championships.

Then "let the games begin" and may the best circuit prevail!

Unfortunatly I can only give this one plus but its multiplied by 100 does it count
