Should be a great show!
Is the show going to be a 4-judge show or have the full judging contingent. I ask because last year it was only a 4-judge show.
-
I marched snare last year with Fusion Core at 42. Helped me get in better shape. Felt pretty good too. I do miss it. I know that Cyrus Maddoske (Sky, Bush) is playing snare w/FC in '08. I think he's closer to 50 than 40. Sorry I had to let that out, Cyrus!
Frank, I'll bet you could still strap on and do it again! You were a monster!
Larry V. was a mainstay in Sun's snare line up until what, 3-4 years ago? How many years did you march snare, Larry? He eventually had the "oh my back" lean incorporated into the show!
Greg,
I answered earlier - I marched snare up to age 55, marched soprano last year and was marching contra this year until Sun went non-competitive. I found out that I wasn't correctly strengthening my core muscles - started doing that and found the snare didn't bother me (I found that out by doing a couple of parades on snares and on contra. Depending on things next year I plan on coming back and marching (maybe).
-
The last year I marched (2000 Brigadiers), I was 48. The following year, there was a Marine cat who marched there that was 52. From 1985 on, I was by far the oldest guy in any of the snarelines I marched in but, it didn't stop me from being as energetic or as active as the youngest person in the line. I did that by faithfully working out 3-5 times per week, weekends were my time to be a kid again. I think you can do it as long as you're willing to keep an open mind about change and be pro active with physical training.
Frank,
You're just a kid!!
I marched snare with the Sunrisers up to last year (55) when I filled in a soprano spot. this year I was playing Contra until the corps went inactive.
As Frank says, it just takes desire and preparation!
-
My sincere sympathy to the entire Katz family and the Skyliner and Caballero extended families for their loss.
May God Speed.

I marched in a small corps on Long Island
The Farmingdale Falcons which became the
Farmingdale Crusaders - THEN the Farmingdale
Regimentals, in the Long Island Circuit and
the New York Circuit. The Corps folded in 1972 and I
joined the Sunrisers. I started in 58 and have not
missed a year since then!

and easily accessible via I287/I87 and the Garden State Parkway.
We've got openings for you! From the rousing rhythms and sounds of "I am I, Don Quixote", through the lush and seductive "Dulcinea" to a percussion feature centered on "Aldonza", and on to the exciting finale "The Impossible Dream", The Quest promises to be one of our best productions.
The only other ingredient is you. If you want one of our open spots now is the time. Don’t set yourself up to have to cram at the last minute. Come down. Grab a spot. Take advantage of the top-notch training we offer and the opportunity it presents for you to do more than just learn notes and march.
