  1. Crown - Talented corps. Odd show. Boring show. Loved the tag of the music from The Abyss.

Blue Devils - Talented corps. Odd show. Boring show. The field looked like a ring toss game. A few super awesome jazz chords.

Cadets - Talented corps. Couldn't help but think of '99 SCV and '93 Star. The guard looked like a container of brightly hued Tic-Tacs.

SCV- Talented corps. Awesome uniforms! The '89 Cadets still can't be surpassed in the Les Mis department. :thumbup:/>/>/>

Phantom Regiment - A field of lack luster Storm Troopers. :laugh:/>/>/> Very boring show.

Bluecoats - I like the uniforms. Disliked the show. I'm just into small town Americana themes. Not a fan of the bleachers on the field.

The Madison Scouts - Boring. For all this "reinventing" the Scouts brand; there is nothing exciting about it. They are doing the same schtick from years ago when Stewart was at the helm.

The Cavaliers - Another case of "oh how the mighty have fallen." The drumline is their lone bright spot. Boring show.

Boston Crusaders - I really, really wanted to like this show. The entire gray to red thing wasn't as exciting as everyone made it out to be. SCV's tunnel is still way more "Ooo and Ahh" inducing than what Boston did; and that was way back in '85 and '86. :thumbup:/>/>/>

Blue Knights - Boring. A return to body work for the sake of body work, silly corps proper skipping and flailing about, looking like the early '90s Glassmen. The voice effects overwhelmed the music.

Spirit - Should have been beat by the Blue Stars. A yawner of a show. For a corps that's trying to include a touch of the old Spirit, they are missing the boat. If they really want to grab the crowd while playing something classic; they should play thier '83 opener "Brothers of Bop." I'd welcome that back in a heartbeat from Spirit!

Blue Stars - 99.9% awesome! Best uniforms! Great show; classic in styling and, yet, fresh and new. Very exciting. The flags need a lot of attention. The gap between them and the corps below them has widened. They should and deserve to be ahead of Spirit and very, very close to the Boston Crusaders.

Crossmen - This show reminded me of thier '06 production. It's a jumbled mish mash of tunes. I'm all for a great variety of different music; but the theme just isn't putting them all together. Jazz it up, next year, Crossmen!

Troopers - Welcome back! I would have liked to see them with the navy blue jacket they were considering; pretty cool, uniform, however. This show brought back memories of the '80s Troopers.

...I didn't see the rest of the corps.

So to summarize: "I'm a BS homer!!" :satisfied:/>/>/>/>

Good to see someone else came to the same conclusion I did about that wonderful review!

  2. According to the DCI website, the results at Minneapolis determine performance order. For those that did not compete, and average of scores was used to determine order. So, if performance at Minneapolis determines the order for San Antonio, why are Spirit and BAC competing before Blue Stars and why are Cavies after Madison? Phantom should be after Bluecoats and Crown should be after Blue Devils.

It also doesn't make sense if you look at average scores. In DCP's rankings, Crown is ahead of BD so they should appear last, Phantom is ahead of Bluecoats, Madison is ahead of Cavies, BAC and Spirit are both ahead of Blue Stars.

You didn't read the whole thing. From dci.org...........

Results from the July 13 DCI Minnesota Premier Event in Minneapolis determine the performance order for the DCI Southwestern Championship in San Antonio. For corps that did not compete in Minneapolis, scores were factored in from previous events. Once seeded in score order, corps were then drawn at random in groups of three (First through third, fourth through sixth, etc.)

    Anyone know the judging assignments?

Predictions coming off Thursday night show in Warrensburg?

First chance to see how adding in BAC, Scouts, BK, Spirit to the others impacts numbers.

    Let the games begin!

    Thanks for the info!

FYI - according to the daily schedule posted on Boston's Facebook page, they are scheduled to stepoff @ 6:32pm.

  4. I believe the pics in this string show the traditional corps red jacket below the grey. That is certainly not a T-shirt. Maybe as they " Rise", more grey jackets transition to red over a number of shows. The " Rise" is beginning. This truly is a very overt program development as it makes youveagervto see specifically what new elements are being presented, more so than a corps typical program improvement during a season.

The t-shirt comment, made by Ghost in post #132, was in response to Tim K's post #126.

You may want to take a peak at BAC's Facebook page for a few clues about what will happen tonight or tomorrow! If you're wondering, they are practicing in shorts with the gray jackets, but you can see a hint of red.

The picture in post #131 (showing the red jacket beneath the grey) is from the LaCrosse show, not a rehearsal.

  5. Your link above is not working. You just need to remove the first "http://". I was hoping you had a newer video than this one I already saw in mid-June.

    Thanks for posting though! :smile:/>

Liahona if you go to 'tube website and search for - Boston Crusaders 7/6/13, it will lead you to what I believe is the most recent video.

  6. heard the 3 parade announcement made by the Corps director himself to the admin staff: 2 parades in the morning, one in the evening. Third parade is Plymouth.

I believe you. They must be dividing the Corps in half though. The Plymouth parade is the same time as Chelmsford.

  7. Boston has 3 parades that day, but Bristol is not one of them. Norwood is, Chelmsford I think, and....

Cadets in Bristol, but I am hearing that Wakefield isn't footing the bill for the DCI corps this year in that evening parade.

Boston only has 2 parades listed on their schedule. Chelmsford @ 10am and Norwood @ 5:30pm.

  8. There are a ton of gray haters out there, but let's use our imagination about this... The gray tops are obviously not fit tightly for a reason - the staff wouldnt let the corps go out there looking frumpy. I'm guessing there will be a mid-show costume change, where we will see the lovely red jackets 'Rise' from the gray.

Am I the only one thinking outside the box with this?

I don't believe you are thinking outside the box. The Corps has hinted around the best they can, without actually coming out and saying it. ;)

  9. I've read a lot of mixed reviews about BAC this early season and especially some negative ones about their uniforms...I think the uni's fit the theme well...I personally was actually quite captivated by their performance last night in New Haven...While I am a former member of the corps, I almost sometimes become too over-critical of them because I love this corps so much...Their show actually surprised me because after seeing them at the theater I honestly thought for sure that I was going to really hate it...I now understand where they are going with the emotion that they are trying to create and I was actually able to really feel it. Phantom is usually the one that grabs my emotions(Nimrod was gorgeous btw)...I can't in recent memory remember feeling that much intensity from the members...My gut feeling is this show is going to be a late bloomer.

It's ok Liahona, we will welcome you back aboard the ship. :)

  10. Anyone see their preview last night? Share your thoughts.

From the Boston Crusaders' Facebook page: "We shared the show press release here yesterday but thought we would share the show promo video so you can like and share here!"

(just an "fyi" - according to youtube comments this is currently not available on mobile devices)

  12. Has anyone received any updates on new subscriptions for the FN yet? Mine expires tomorrow and for the past few days I haven't been able to access videos from '74 to '12.

I checked to see if new subscriptions were available to purchase but there are none.

The following is an excerpt from a post(#36) by drumcat on May 10th. Hope it helps.

"As for the pricing conspiracy, there's not much to it. The decision on how to price the product has been based on years of sales. It's simply set at what brings in the most revenue. If that was $20 a sub or $400, that's what it would be. Data says it's about 65. And unlike many subscriptions, it was a business decision to not auto-renew. That was mostly an ethical decision, but it also would have been more problem than it's worth. But for all the anxiety, you'll have between May 28 and Stanford to purchase and not lapse, so to speak. That's when the marketing is most effective, so I hear."
