  1. Thanks for the reply! This makes me feel better because (this almost sounds stuck up...:/) I think I have the right attitude. I wouldn't be working my butt off learning mellophone, getting in shape, and trying to do everything I possibly could to prepare to go spend a summer doing the hardest thing of my entire life if I didn't REALLY want it. :)
  2. I should clarify: I'm traveling a lot this summer so I will be gone most weekends and the time I do have at home will be spent practicing, summer homework, etc. I would absolutely love to march DCA this summer but I just don't think it would be possible if I'm out of town most weekends. :( I think I'm going to see if I can do fundamentals with my band every morning at camp and during marching season. I'm drum major so I can't march the show, but a little experience would help. :) thanks for the advice though! I am definitely trying to make connections even if I can't march this summer.
  3. I wish I could march somewhere this summer but I can't afford to lose an entire summer of practice on saxophone right before college auditions...Thanks for the advice though! I'm going to try to find somewhere to get at least a little experience marching mello. :)
  4. I am primarily a saxophone player but it is my dream to march corps next summer. I have recently picked up mellophone and am doing decent so far. (or so I'd like to think...;)) I would really like to march Bluecoats next season. I know this is a lofty goal, but I am committed to at least trying my best. If it doesn't happen, then it doesn't happen. Do you have any advice for someone like me? Anything would be helpful: audition tips, things you wish you'd known, even specific things on mellophone. Thanks for the help!
