LIke i said in the madison thread For the most part i enjoyed his shows but it lacked the madison Flair. I welcome the change in hopes of a return to the Big bad men of madison Not indiana.

Well there you have it James Mason is retiring or maybe he was aksed to step down but they are saying he is retiring either way scouts headed in a diffrent direction hopefully for the better. Thanks Jim! for the most part i enjoyed your shows but the madison flair was still lacking a little for me Back to big Bad Madison.

For sale. 130 white soda jerk coats, collection of hardly finished scores of songs with minor editing to originals. 1 giant spool not contain red fabric that shimmers.
ISO. 130 green jackets , large spool of red fabric that shimmers.
Also looking to move back to madison to reconnect to old friends and return to my roots. Need able bodies to help move.

Need an energetic and uptempo or musically powerful show that focuses on a theme that is easy to understand. Also focus on three songs not as many as this year. Ditch arrangers and design staff they are over thinking it. Bring in some of the writers from the 90's. I also think scouts need to maybe venture into something a bit darker than they have previously done. Also more geometric drill. And finally 9 or 10 snare 6 tenors 6 bass and 5 cymbals. Yes bring back the large drumline and cymbal line. Oh yeah ditch the all white bring back the green coat red sash. You can fancy it up if you want. My two cents

Its been done although park and hold blows for 40 seconds not hard to add.

Its not so much that the scouts need to play music from the past just that the scouts have to get back to doing shows in general the madison way. Loud and proud. Not fancy and dancy

Just to be clear I never marched scouts I did march Madison Jr scouts though. Same tradition less talent Lol. But my father marched scouts and my brother in-law marched scouts. I know who cares right just saying to add that I may not be alumni of the world class scouts but I was a Madison scouts little brother so to speak. We still sang mynwa and honored the traditions as the big boys. I also marched another corps which is now folded. I realize some disagree about speaking negatively about a corps especially if they are alums. I guess I'm unsure of how and why drum corps is any different from criticism of a sports team or a politician or of your country for that matter. Its healthy and keeps thoughts and ideas flowing. To blindly praise is to not care in the first place.

I'm with swmstom I know that look he speaks of. Slam the lid damb near over your eyes stone cold. And people keep saying where's the brotherhood. Have any of you dated a girl that was no good and everyone could see it and didn't say nothing but your brother was like dude she is gonna ruin you and she has got to go. The one guy that will give it to you straight your brother. Of course you know better than him till your pockets are empty and she ran off with your best friend. That's when you say wow brother why didn't you say anything. What! Your kidding right? That's how I see this. That is all.

Leg sway and prancing does nothing visually for me. Crazy mind altering drill or the cross step triangle with the spin that phantom did in like 93 is what works and can define a show. All the ballet dancing the horn line and percussion do is forgettable and a distraction. Even "simple" rotating company front scouts circa 95-96 it works and when done to perfection is far more effective ge wise but crowd entertainment wise as well. Let's put military precision back in drum corps please.

Unless you have won DCI championships or are within tenths of winning it doesn't matter what spot your in. No corps has ever won from 12th to 4th maybe even third going into finales. so at that point just making finales is the goal put on a show that's respectable and entertaining. But my opinon artristy, broadway has tainted dc. I want mad chops and blow your doors off music.

Maybe Time trip is really just a finale good bye to the old as the corps moves forward into unknown realms of possibility fresh white unis like a blank slate and a finale hurrah to music that made them fan favorites. Next year could be the birth of The new Men of Indiana I mean Madison.

Its not a foreign concept capitalairs were in Madison they merged with Madison Jr scouts to form capital sound which is now folded. Then there were the bandets from canada. I'm sure there were more but on a world class level it would be interesting to see.

The guy walking around is still installing his part when they were at whitewater this summer practicing he was in what could be describes as a hamster wheel. I can't get into details but he does have more of a part than has been shown.

Who's drum corps is it. Where scores are made up and the winner has already been determined.

OK I know injuries happen but I have never seen a world class corps only march 2 quads. Noticble gaps in the Akron show. But what's the deal 2 quads? Madison sounds good but needs to take a huge step IMHO to break 8th this year the drill is very weak and in the new theater based DCI if you don't have a wow factor its unlikely that you move past 5th let alone win. Maybe it just didn't translate to the cinema very well.

Question is are these scores justified from what I've read cavies and phantoms shows are very unappealing and Madison's is great yet scores suggest othereise

I don't recall back when uniforms didn't change every year having discussion about pants. It was wow that show rocked or that show was boring. But hey I guess times change and now its that was an OK show but the pants wow them are some great pants they really pop. More Drum corps less theater please.

I prefer music to stand out if you have to talk about pants all year your doing something wrong. But boy those pants are not as distracting as underutilized trampolines.
