  1. I would have liked the red sash and gauntlets but not to bad I guess . I think they are slowly making there way back to the white slacks green jacket and red sash/gauntlets in several years. Just getting everyone used to white again. Or at least.that's what I would do but who am I.

  2. I guess I'll fire the convo back up. The scouts will not disappoint this year just watched 3 min of video and I now see why they needed trumpets that could play gg consistently. Not sure what tune it was I'll have to research and listen a few more times but they were uptempo and reminded me a little of the old Scout's. I also didn't hear much goo from the amps. Drill looked fast paced and lots of movement going on vid wasnt taken high enough to judge how clean it was but no worries. Can't wait to see them in the theaters soon that as close to a show as I will be getting this year. On a side not I've scene bd,phantom, cadets, crossman,Boston all play there music books and they lack excitement in comparison to Madison.

  3. I've seen several corps utilizing drones this season perricularly one photo I have seen showed cavies with like 5 quad copters. this will provide great information for corps design and excellant visual eye candy for internet fans. Anyone know what brand and the cost of these drones? Also hypotheticaly who has air superiority right now and if a actual dog fight broke out who would win and why.

  4. Just watched the cadets 2014 on YouTube live stream technically talented especialy the drumline but as usual show fails to get my heart pumping less technicality and more pure emotion and passion is needed in DCI. Let's see how the show transforms over the summer. Also drill looked clean already but they did not march 3 part of the show.

  5. What's keeping an all Brass college band like The Ohio state Buckeye band from competing in DCI. As long as they follow the age requirement and Decrease there size for competition. Is this even plausible? Now I realize that they wouldn't stand a chance at being competitive but does this new all brass rule make it possible. Please say it won't so.

  6. I read a post on twitter last night that go me thinking. The post was a student that was excited that her favorite corps would be coming to town this summer and that she was excited and wanted to tell her band friends but she than stated oh that's right I'm the only one who knows what DCI is. So my question is this do band directors discourage or even hide the drum corps activity for fear of lossing students to the activity? When I was in middle school my bad director cringed when he knew two of us were in drum corp maybe because we had a tendency to do a little AdLib to the percussion parts that were very basic. Or maybe because those that haven't been involved try to move students in the band direction. Your thoughts on this long winded question.

  7. Hey because kickers in the NFL can make 97 percent of field goals means the NFL should eliminate fg. Because 95 percent of Drum corps sound great using existing horns DCI should add all brass. I preferred g "bugles" to the Bb. I would argue 90 percent of those that watch DC wouldn't be able to tell the difference by adding trombone s and the likes if they didn't see them on the field. Hence change for change sake.

  8. Its a long line of bastardization that has come to close to no difference between band and drum corps. What's the point in adding all brass? Change for the sake of change is right. I'll give it a try but if I see corps choosing sousaphones over marching tubas or trombones over baritones in my opinon will mean that the activity that thrived on differentiation from band will in fact have become band.
