  1. Scene:  first informational meeting for the interested alumni

Cadets"If you love ballet, we have ballet.  If you love modern dance, we have that.  A little fresh, pop, hip-hop, we have that.  We have everything that anybody could possibly like."

The other thing--i guess I'll whine a little here. Until last night I don't think I've read show threads for shows on Flo, where people can be as snarky as they want watching a video. I wasn't surprised at the dislike of what the Cadets are performing, it's pretty universal and I don't like the design either. I was a little surprised at how really hateful it was. I felt like it was 2006/07/08 again, or 2010. You can say anything you want, of course, and I can just stay away from it, just was surprised at the piling on vitriol.

There were a bunch of classless a-holes in that thread, if you ask me.

This whole Boston Cadets thing is way overrated

just be happy both are strong!

i wonder what other changes Cadets have made during this quiet week? I’ve heard a new Cadets style closing moments and that the stair props have been finished with high end painting that looks like carpeted stairs in maroon and white

any other big changes to expect? I’m hoping they’ve lost the tag ending to the ballad

At Hattiesburg the Ballad had been modified a bit.   Sung Lyrics introduced earlier on, and the "I will lay me down" at the end was gone.  The stairs do like nice with the new "red carpet", though between the carpets and the corps in red, the Queen in her new red dress is harder to distinguish

FYI - they are working on at least one significant change/rewrite, and brought in someone with prior Cadet marching and Visual staff experience to write it

Given that I have marched said someone's content, I am very excited to see what changes the staff put in.

My son was glad to see him return also.

  5. EDIT:  Sorry it didn't post correctly.  I've been mostly outside of cell service today.

What I tried to post was that the person I had referred to above as being brought into Cadets was not Mr. Sylvester, of whom I have not heard anything.

Whatever! I don’t get it and I don’t believe I’m the only one.

Well I “got” Statues Awakening. It didn’t help my enjoyment of the program.

I’ll take 2016 over 2019 any day of the week. Twice on Sunday. And so will someone else I know.

Boy you lose one show to BK and the sky is falling.  What happens if they lose to Blue Stars or Mandarins next?

Cadets will be fine but they cannot design along the lines of a Dartmouth indoor show.  Sure it works great in the indoor setting, but not on the drum corps stage.  They need to do better.

True about the design. The sky will be just fine with respect to Cadets placement. The focus right now IN MY OPINION is to maintain stability and members experience. Then they can get back to competing at the top levels again.

But when people say to focus on members’ experience they tend to overlook that a huge portion of that experience is giving them a show they can be proud to have marched.

Exactly. The director spent months putting out bits (or maybe bytes?) of information that hyped up this show and made many of us feel optimistic about this season. I was COMPLETELY on board until I finally saw the show and then heard the staff BS

Well, I DID try to warn you back in March ...

The lack of communication is alarming

I do think it is disappointing.

What sort of communication are you guys expecting?   They had months and months to plan the show design, and what they came up with made everybody cringe the moment they released the info.  Literally, the buzz and postings were sky high as Cadets released the show name, then the show uniform, and then ... BAM ... crickets when they released the show description as everyone who didn't already know went all

     source.gif

So what communication are you expecting now?  That despite all those months which got them to this point, they suddenly in the past few weeks have a remedy to make the show design all better?

None of these corps have a show tomorrow.  Why can't they do a rain delay show tomorrow?  I know they will be thrown off in their scheduling, but aren't they resilient enough to deal with that?

And maybe they can just hop on jets the next day to catch their next show, which normally takes them two overnight drives to get to.

PC Fam and Friends group reports Bronco employee says final status would be announced 8pm Mountain time.

Just got the same word.  They will decide at 8:00 on whether the show is a go or not.  I don’t see this clearing up until around 9:00.  So probably just standstills if we’re lucky.

Just standstills? And that’s different than so much of their shoes how, exactly?

  12. To be fair, he's merely offering a counterpoint to your analysis, and it's not unduly negative in tone, even though his predicted result is less favorable than yours.  Personally, I would expect judges at a 4-corps event where the top corps is only 7th to err on the side of caution and not give the top corps much of a bump - not unlike what occurred in Iowa.

Then again, I loathe DCI scoring in general, so it will be what it will be.
