  1. well, someone asked but you'll never know who i am or how much money NAMM and companies make due to stuff i did. so what. that's the past. but it does give me a POV. just thought i would raise this issue since so many of you are very supportive of playing live, encouraging young people to play, in the face of a fierce downsizing of budgets and support for the past 30 years. never mind, chaddyt. you're not one of those, apparently, or you've had 2 drinks for every bird flying by tonight.
  2. yes. brilliant idea. terrible execution. they spent SO MUCH money on the visual, then had one guy do the whole thing on a Roland-Korg-Commodore 64 whatever thing. pitiful.
  3. i'm hearing it too. feed is solid here for the past 45 min or so. brass sounds a little wobbly, FEET, some notes sound tired. weird because they have done better this season (brass).
  4. sorry. does large font size seem violent to you? watch out for billboards! they are really big. i'm a veteran music educator, composer, and a Major Old Man of the digital audio world. damnNAMM using MIDI instruments for promoting playing real instruments is an affront.
  5. yeah i think they used it at first of season. but now it "seems" he is not lip-syncing at all. it makes sense to use sync simply because of huge volume on edge of field bleeding into his mic, plus i hear NO echo from the stadiums feeding back into his mic (no echoes on his voice, or from the corps). a mic on a voice is 40dB (10,000x energy) less than a mic at the end of a solo brass instrument. but everyone might as well be wearing flags in this show. it's a crowd-pleaser. like light classical on Music through the Night. Strauss after a Ligeti work on your local symphony program.
  6. anyone notice that the NAMM commercial has ALL SYNTHETIC INSTRUMENTS ON THE SOUNDTRACK. what the flagnog is NAMM thinking???? the spot is called JUST PLAY and they used a fricking MIDI TRACK. how absolutely arrogant, foolish, inane, and disrespectful to the biggest live music competition in the world...
  7. the cadets thing is impressive at first experience, but the lipsync thing just kills it for me. we got (150x24) members playing live, and one guy gets to act like he's talking. OMG. at least synthesizers are something you play.
  8. BD pre-audition definitions.... "color guards needed: female. long hair. curvy. familiarity with pole dancing a plus." i especially like the tambourine bump under the thighs. after all, it works in Every Other Product.
  9. i like the wireless on the paint roller. very nice and clever.
  10. dang. does here. try again. or maybe even quit browser and restart. browsers (esp Chrome) have large ram requirements, plus many memory leaks....
  11. it's a show about space. like under your feet. weightless. Space Oddity. Interstellar Suite. Amin Bhatia. and i guess trampolines are, uh, the best, uh, idea that, uh, Crown had.
  12. mentioned earlier by a wise person: close the player window, THEN refresh the browser page itself, then load HD2 stream. works much better.
  13. there is a huge amount of streaming in the evenings. at 10.22pm, it's 7.22pm in cali and now the entire country is "off work hours" and streaming stuff. Sat nights are very big. but that's not the point. there ways of using appropriate data centers, but it'$ likely to come down to the $tandard an$wer management alway$ give$.
  14. ok, now both HD streams don't have LIVE buttons. interesting mismanagement of a live feed. DCI soul under attack or something, i've read about. who cares if they nor their 'opponents' can neither handle the infrastructure for their purported live video product. now on SD...
  15. SD working. but high cam not. gives me just 48minutes of something, not a live connect. sheesh. if i find the names of the people responsible for the IP aspect of this, i'll publish their personal information so we can write them old-fashioned paper letters, which have a greater impact.
  16. if i skip backwards the smallest amount possible (about 3 minutes) then the video is smooth. well, much smoother than live. at the live edge (as close to "live" as digital will ever get), it is stop ping irregu lar ly
  17. same here. video freeze. audio freezes separately. (as it is in Digital World). slower and less dependable (digital media).
  18. might you not think they can clean more? that's how it goes further. if the concept is the issue, then that's maybe the point yr making.
  19. lol. they do from the back of my studio too (fan network).
  20. yep. 8th at the least; i'm new to this idea of spreads and #### and only take up risks in startup companies... but yes, if they can peak in Indy...
