  1. I have seen all the top 4 shows live at least 4 times each and have also watched them on Flo about the same amount

For me, Boston and Blue Devils shows are head and shoulders above the rest, by far the most captivating and enjoyable productions of the 4 corps. Both of them take the salute and before you know it, their shows are over!! The time just flies by and I, (along with many others I have spoken to) am left wanting to see their shows again and again.

The Crown show is good and clever I am sure but takes a conscious amount of focus for me to 'stay with it'  I find that elements of the music especially, are so similar throughout the production, its hard to remain engaged.

Bluecoats clearly have some very tallented performers but this years show is my least favorite of the top 6 or 7

Drum Corps is a wonderful activity that provides so much to so many. Thank you all who take part in any way.

This is a nice story but clearly this person who saw a drum corps for the first time was attracted to what they know most.   How much does the same person know about flag , rifle and saber mechanics and technique?

it’s not dance troop it’s color guard

I understand your comments but over the years, I have found that the person who is a new spectator to to drum corps, is an excellent spectator judge, due in part to their omission of historical opinion and possible bias. Their opinions are always very telling and more often than not, right on the money!

  3. I have 2 tickets for the Katy TX show on July 19 They are 50 yard line premier seats which I bought for my son and I but we cannot make it

I paid $58 each but will sell for below face value. It would be a pity for these excellent seats to go to waste! (section D Row 19 Seats 11 and 12)

I don't qualify as BD honk, but I like not getting to see them until the end of the season.  I see a lot of my favorite corps through the season and love to see the improvements and get attached to the show. OTOH with BDs, I never see them until I go to Indy when they are at their best (and they do seem to pull out all the stops a little better than anyone when it comes to the final product).  So having them fly under the radar is part of my enjoyment about going to Championships.

What a great last sentence. "To someone in the Northeast, BDs is like the present that you know is there, but you don't get to unwrap and see it until Christmas morning"

That's  exactly how it is! They are an incredible organization. Year after incredible year, they come out with something that you instinctively know is going to be the Creme, even before anyone has seen or heard anything re the year's production.  Like you and thousands of others, I cant wait to see them live , We are the lucky ones!

  7. Attended the show which was awesome

We took a person who has never seen a drum corps show but very much enjoys music and theater.

Bluecoats were the penultimate corps and Boston, being their home show the final performer. At the conclusion of the show his comment was : "Wow that was great but Boston were clearly better than everyone" What does he know, we might scoff???

Great job to all but so impressed by Boston Crusaders, their show is just so captivating to watch., If you haven't seen them live you should go if your can. Worth the price of admission

Queston : Are they temporarily down a tennor player or will they march 3 for the remainder of the year?

    My thoughts

Phantom's got a lot of meat on the bones for this show, but there's a lot of dirt, especially visually. I think the ceiling is very high for them If they can clean it. This could finish 9th.

Blue Stars have very clean brass, visual isn't great, but as with Phantom, a lot of demand.

Cadets. Not sure what to make of this one. Didn't do a ton of research, not sure where this'll go.

Boston got it. Everything is there, just need to grow. My favorite concept of the night.

Crown exceeded my expectations. Another odd year think piece show, but I liked it. Medal shot depending on Cali corps.

Bluecoats. Very well executed, but I'm not sure about the theme. Then again, I felt this way about last year, and it grew on me as the season went on, so we'll see.

I totally agree, its shaping up to be a great year!

Boston was also our favorite of the night. Strong in all sections and a great, well designed show concept. They are one of those corps that always seem to get stronger as the season progresses

I would not be at all surprised if they take Bronze come August! (In fact I would be kind of surprised if they dont!)

  9. Just got home from Premier

Its going to be a great year, enjoyed all the shows tonight. Loved Boston, I thought they would be strong but the show concept, quality of design etc was way above what I expected. Clearly there is a lot they can do with this show in the coming weeks. It would not surprise me at all if they medal this year!

Bluecoats opening is so impressive and they are loud loud loud. The base of the electronics rattled the theater speakers! The rest of the show was entertaining but for me, fell off the high of the captivating start. It will be interesting to see what happens over the coming weeks

Crown horn arrangements are amazing, cant wait to see the show live. Lots of movement throughout and a house rocking closer

Out of the gate, it really is close IMO between these 3 elite corps, maybe even with the bronze medal at stake. On balance, I would tend to pick BAC to come out on top come August. Time will tell.

    Great night at the theater

  10. Blue. Devils : Reinvent themselves (as only they can do) for the Gold

    SCV : Almost!

BAC : Another year and yet another step closer to the ultimate goal (destiny)

Bluecoats : Great show but the competition was just so strong

Crown : Class and more class

Anticipating a fantastic year of drum corps. Can't wait!
