My only question is who do you have in mind to replace them if you want them out? Wayne Downey, Todd Ryan and Hopkins? It would be foolish to replace something without already have adequate replacements available to move forward. As Nick Saban once said you need adequate replacements on deck.

Also I hope that Meghan decides to return next year with her wonderful talent.

I can understand your point. However I understand why they chose to go down that road with the theme of their show.

I honestly think this year’s show concept was a good modern idea. Now, design wise it could have been better sure. So many people said the show was a beautiful show. Maybe they could build on something dealing more with love and unity in a modern way in the future.

We’ve lost many important corps, not sure one is more significant than the others- however losing Scouts would be significant obviously
that said - the discussion in the thread about opening the corps up to coed to solve the competitive issues are very misguided imo. Design and instruction are the issues, focus there. A decision the go or not go coed should be based on a desire to change the organization and allow it to service female as well as male members, not as a response to a perceived “crisis”
i would personally prefer they return to what made the organization unique in the past - and a real draw for prospective members. In your face loud and aggressive jazz programming with a fan friendly approach. Honestly that’s missing in today’s drum corps offerings
lets go back the great big sound and the big clean company fronts and terrific jazz soloists. They need a draw, a unique quality. I feel they lost what made them special under their prior “dream team” staff and now they are just struggling for competitive success vs being “the Scouts!”
The only problem with that is I am sure that because of today’s modern DCI the judges would kill them for that type of show. This is what most people don’t understand.

Is this the same design team that gave us 2017?
I appreciated that show for it’s radical departure from the past and thought it set Madison up for a good ‘18 season. What a disappointment.
I think it is the same team for the most part.

Mike Rapp you could not have said it any more plain than this!!! As a scout alum myself I would rather see this corps change and evolve with the activity and stay relevant, rather than become at some point become non existent. I marched in the Scouts in the mid 80s and if I want to see what it was in the past, I simply pop in the DVD. But as for young performers these days, the question is “what have you done lately?’ It’s not “what were you back then”? I’ve said this years ago that the Scouts should have been evolving with other corps such as the Cavaliers, instead of just wanting to “please the crowd”. Say what you to say about BD, but having the opportunity to look at various organizations now in the activity objectively, I agree with their philosophy. It is to pursue championships. Because winning takes care of a lot of ills.

Saw a brief clip on Facebook. Hornline sounded very strong and some sho nuff screamers.
I liked what I heard from the video on Facebook!

Me either. Only reports from a couple of people that have seen their rehearsal. They both say they have out done last year. We shall see.
Yes, time will tell.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I haven’t heard or seen anything yet on SCV this season either.

Well that’s a good thing!

Would a Latin Jazz show be a disappointment?

Views yes, but not as many comments it appears.

Of all the 2017 finalists corps this thread is really, really quiet for some reason! Definitely not like it used to be in years past.

It will be interesting how Music City and Spirit of Atlanta will be competing for talent in the south now.

It will probably be a costume since modern DCI has moved away from uniforms.
