  1. Bluecoats seem to have tapped into the same source of energy that powered Madison Scouts in 1995.
  2. Bluecoats know how to jam. I've come around to this show much faster than last year's.
  3. I did NOT like that obvious amplification of the horns. It came evenly on both channels, even though the corps was on the right.
  4. It could be your ISP, or higher usage from your neighbors, or an older computer. My laptop certainly isn't up to the demands of streaming.
  5. The amplification from the Cadets is pretty offensive to my ears. I had to turn my volume WAY down, and it was still loud enough to hurt my ears. They're the only corps I've had to turn down.
  6. If bandwidth is the issue, I should be having some crazy problems streaming from Australia using a VPN. Yet my feed has been great. But I'm using a 5k iMac with a fibre connection... equipment matters, folks.
  7. They've pretty well nullified any criticisms I've had of Jupiter instruments. They get a huge amount of volume out of them, without the sound tearing. And there's a brightness to the sound that is hard to describe; it definitely isn't the same "bright" sound that is undesirable in brass playing, as it still is a beautiful, full sound.
  8. Best whole-ensemble dynamic contrast right here. They really can get whisper-quiet, then smash you with a haymaker.
  9. BK has really achieved a unique fusion of traditional drum corps with electronics and body movement. I really really hope they don't come down with a case of follow-the-leaders.
  10. BK's hornline can really turn it up to 11 when needed. They must be one of the loudest this season, and no amps needed.
  11. That first impact hits like a ton of bricks. Probably my favorite impact this season.
  12. They sure do move and play a lot though. Credit where credit is due.
  13. Sigh... this show has certainly improved, but I can't overlook the extra set of circuit boards between me and their hornline. It is SO noticeable on the feed. Lots of crackling from the amps. A pox on all designers that feel like amplification of hornlines is a good idea.
  14. DCI stated last night that there was a record crowd for Prelims.
  15. Nice to see the Madison Scouts back in finals, sad to see Mandarins miss it. But at least Mandarins went out in style. Still a record breaking season for them. Congratulations to both corps!
  16. Rewatching Mandarins. What. A. SHOW. I don't know if they'll make finals, but that show is certainly deserving of a Saturday performance. If Mandarins continue to build like this, they'll be knocking on the top 6 before too long.
  17. Is it just me, or are Crossmen having lots of little ensemble timing issues tonight? I feel like I keep hearing almost-tears.
