  1. Oh I totally get your point. You think that the administration at Phantom is not adequate, which you think is leading to a culture at Regiment that will eventually lead to their downfall if it is not improved. You probably would've kept quiet if you didn't have such an apparently awful experience with them. And of course, you care SO deeply about this corps which is why you're outing this information so that they can "fix it." I get it. You've said it atleast 15 times now. I'm just tired of hearing it from you, especially considering the corps is in a fine position right now.

    Good luck tonight Phantom!

    Define "fine."

Also, there's a block button. Do use it.

  2. I'm no moderator and I'm sort of enjoying this dumpster fire of a thread, so I could care less if it's closed. That being said ...

This thread has multiple different viewpoints chatting at each other, with no real dialogue going about the show itself. Of the people who don't like the "trend" (if there is one) of sub-par PR show designs, very few of them are giving actual reasons why they don't like the show. The rest of them are saying "this show sucks ... fire someone ... make it like 2008/1989/my favorite year again."

Furthermore, these same people -- a couple may be alumni, but who knows -- are saying some fairly provocative stuff about the organization itself.

You can call people "hyper sensitive borgs" and complain about social ills or whatever anti-PC nonsense all you want, but the below kinds of posts are going to channel some outrage and derail a topic. I have nothing against stating an opinion, but if it's a dumb and unfounded opinion, then that's how discussions turn into flame wars.

^ Calls for an overhaul to an entire organization, as if it's being run by the mob.

^ This is a former volunteer telling the mother of a current member what she can and can't do with some acronym.

^ This same former volunteer is saying several dozen people should be fired for committing the cardinal sin of not being top 5.

^ Apparently, there is a "No Desire to Compete" school-of-thought toward show design.

^ Not being in the top 5 makes you obsolete. Got it.

    Pick and choose...pick and choose.

I didn't say what she could or couldn't do. She's free to do whatever she wants. I said that it wasn't respectful. That term is earned.

Yet again, read everything I've typed, not just one and don't take it out of complete context.

It's not because they're not Top 5 (which would be nice). It's because the design is not the caliber it should be. It's SOA 2.0, but not as entertaining. Let's not forget that several rehires were also let go years ago because of their inability to design quality material. Notice the HUGE shift between 2004 to 2005. They weren't good then, and they're not doing well now. If you rehire people knowing their ability isn't up to snuff, then you're either compassionate and want to give someone the benefit of the doubt, or no one else wants to work there.

Now, I could say a #### ton more about how I think things aren't going well. If you want the full reason behind my anger towards admin, just PM me. There's nothing like being treated like #### for a summer and then almost getting left in the middle of nowhere that makes someone hold a grudge.

  3. What an amazing contradiction from one sentence to the next. The level of criticism (fairly or unfairly) directed toward the staff and management of the corps pales dramatically in comparison to the personal vitriol you just spewed.

Some have stated in this thread that they're glad that posters on DCP aren't inside the organization. I'm glad jonwoody isn't either. Yikes.

Why exactly? There's discourse. What I'm reading is: "Take this down because it contradicts my opinion."

The internet: where you can't disagree with someone and be civil about it.

I don't think some people are able to divorce the objective approach of criticizing design from subjective feelings towards the corps. Some of us "haters" love the corps, just wish that they were living up to higher design standards, ones they used to hold and display.

As for Hector Projector, "I don't understand/my feelings are hurt, therefore I'm mad and must make you feel bad because I feel bad." Dude, whatever. Chill.

  4. The fact that you didn't know that Jamey's 2011 return was pre-planned, and that Myron being there was only ever supposed to be a one year thing tells me you don't know as much about what's going on at Regiment as you think you do. It's nice to assume the worst, and that all troubles stem from one person, but not everything has to be so nefarious. By the way, would you rather they had stuck with Nick after the drill he put out in '08 (which was fixable) and '09 (which wasn't)?

That's not what I heard, and it still doesn't change the fact that there was a lot of turnover.

  5. We are in agreement with that! The 'kids' are capable of anything. I heard somewhere (can't remember who/where) that PR has more professional musicians than any other corps: Disney, Metropolitan Opera, Louisiana Philharmonic, award-winning band directors across the country, The Commandment's Own, etc. It would be fun to see those statistics from all of the corps, actually. Want to take that on for your PHD thesis?

Don't you go back and change things after I've replied!!! Cheater!

  6. Yeah, I guess it's the 'highly critical' part I don't get. If you want drum corp to grow and stay vital, why not be positive and promote the sport? Having not answered my question regarding what your own drum corps experience is/was, I am assuming it is/was none. Snopes for drum corps facts might be a good thing as well. As I've said before, only time will tell. It will be interesting, won't it?

Positivity will be shown when deserved (to the designers that is). Look at what BK has been able to do with a new staff in a short amount of time. High quality design can be achieved sooner than later if planned for.

  7. Not sure I get your visual, but that's okay. Weren't K.C. Perkins there for a good stint as well as David Veda, K.C. Michael and Michael James? We obviously disagree on several things, but that's okay too. Curious as to what your drum corps experience is and wondering why you want to bash the Regiment consistently.

I think your definition of bash is too broad. I'm very disappointed. I'm highly critical. If this year's design and music/drill were better (by quite a bit) I'd be ok with their placement as of now bc this year is phenomenal at the top. Hell, I might even say they were deserving of better. I think they should be mighty happy they're not lower than the 8th place they are in and will get at Finals.
