5/7 top score.
You're saying that is going to be their placement?

Can someone explain to me why the Cavaliers scored so high in brass? I was at the show and felt Boston and the Cadets had better brass performances...all the other placements I agree with.
Tone quality vs blatty and loud.

I might be able to agree with you if they played for more than 20 seconds at a time.
To each their own!

I would definitely put Knights and Cadets ahead of them, and quite obviously (though perhaps not) Crown, Coats, BD and SCV.
Really? A lot of blatty sounds from Boston and Cadets. Cavs may not be very loud, but their center of pitch is much more consistent. Tone quality over volume for me.

Cavaliers had a great run tonight. They've really tightened everything up and are firing on all cylinders. Crowd ate it up. Earlier in the season the hornline was a weak point but they're sounding much cleaner. Guard still has some breaks which they will need to eliminate if they want to challenge for best guard.
Now, don't hate me, but here's a bad thing. The micing of the full corps is not good. This is the 4th time I've seen them live and it's never been this noticeable, but tonight it was far too loud. The sound coming out of the speakers was harsh and piercing at times and impossible to balance, since whichever voices happened to be closest came out loudest. Maybe it was because of my seat location but I found it very unpleasant and detracted from both the horn sound and the overall show. Sorry, not hating, just recounting my experience.
Still, Cavies win with a huge score!
I don't believe they are micing the corps. Maybe this was unintentional? I've seen them twice and not once did I hear the corps through the speakers. Regiment on the other hand, very noticeable.

Like almost every season, by the time early August rolls around ( less than 4 weeks from now ), they'll be a winnowing down from 5 or 6 Corps that could win it all, to just 2.. perhaps as many as 3, but no more than 3. SCV wants to be in that mix of 3, as that positions SCV to secure a medal at least, something that SCV has not done in a dozen years ( since 2004 ). I think by early August that SCV will be in that 3. They have the show design, sectional strength across the board, terrific caption heads, fab drill by Gaines, sufficient creativity, demand, and marcher talent to be one of those 3, imo. But... we'll see.
Gaines does not write SCV's drill.

It's pretty standard Gaines drill, which a very small amount of people seem to not care for...
They cover all of the field, but they don't need to do it all of the time.
I think it's a personal taste thing.
I feel that SCV has been a little underscored head to head with BD. SCV does more visually, and it is more coordinated, and they do it just as well as BD.
BD is going to be adding more and more, but they're a visual "?" for me, and this is the least talented guard I've seen from BD in a decade.
If I'm not mistaken, Gaines is not SCV's drill writer. He holds the role of Creative Director. Weber is their drill writer. Unless you mean it's written in the style of Gaines?

I thought a lot of people for short said Cavies instead of Cavaliers as a nickname. He said they don't like it
Just Joshin you. Some current and fmm believe it's disrespectful. Some others don't seem to mind.

I talked to a friend (who's not in drum corps but has heard this from someone) that Cavaliers members don't like being called "Cavies." Is that true?
What's a Cavie?

Let's just talk about how much we all love band.

curious if anyone is trying this...?
Just a heads up, they will charge you the whole $150 if you decide this option. It simply shows you the discounted price you get if you choose this option. It will NOT be $12.50 a month.

To me they perform like a top 6 corps. I just don't get the GE from them. Definitely not more than PR, Madison, and Cavs. Though it has to be said, that's the best they've been in quite a while. It starts slow but it builds to something fantastic. Opener needs more impact moments.

Am I the only one not feeling BK's program? Just doesn't do it for me.

I wonder if maybe it had been pre-recorded it would have been effective? Mmmm who knows.By all means No. I love most of the show- but detest those few moments
-
I hope that doesn't affect your perception on the whole program.but the singing part???
-
Because it wasn't. Oh well....I really didn't think Cavies' show was that bad. Shrug
-
kind of - I think it is very hard (unrealistic) to expect judges to compare corps between 2 nights and out of order
frankly it's nearly impossible when they are so closely matched at the different competitive levels
-
. True. Still, to many variables. Major one being that they performed on different nights. This seeding will change.Same panel

These scores cannot be compared to last night.
