Really? A lot of blatty sounds from Boston and Cadets. Cavs may not be very loud, but their center of pitch is much more consistent. Tone quality over volume for me.

I don't believe they are micing the corps. Maybe this was unintentional? I've seen them twice and not once did I hear the corps through the speakers. Regiment on the other hand, very noticeable.

Gaines does not write SCV's drill.

If I'm not mistaken, Gaines is not SCV's drill writer. He holds the role of Creative Director. Weber is their drill writer. Unless you mean it's written in the style of Gaines?

To me they perform like a top 6 corps. I just don't get the GE from them. Definitely not more than PR, Madison, and Cavs. Though it has to be said, that's the best they've been in quite a while.
