  6. Grenadiers are proud to officially announce the musical production for 2006!! “INSPIRATION: Music for the Human Spirit” The Kingston Grenadiers are pleased to announce their 2006 musical production entitled: “INSPIRATION: Music for the Human Spirit.” It’s a musical journey to some of the most inspirational sights and sounds in the world. From the shores of Santa Catalina, across the county side of Italy, through the streets of Barcelona, Spain, these musical selections have often provided the inspiration and motivation for human achievement. Portraying cultural diversity and global harmony through the use of world-beat accents, this dynamic music is found within the works of composer and musical director: John Tesh. The show opens with a slow movement while setting the stage for the first production of: AVALON. The high-energy of this song is combined with small ensemble highlights and a variety of dynamic contrasts, exploring many moods both musically and visually. With the main theme re-surfacing in the end, it is sure to make an opening statement and introduce the beginning of a new era for the Grenadiers! The uplifting pulse of Celtic music is introduced with the second production: EMERALD BAY. Bringing excitement and rhythmic intensity to the program, it provides an opportunity to showcase the percussive elements of the corps. Sections of brass provide accents around percussion features before arriving at a full-on Celtic “rock n’ reel.” The softer, more subtle excerpts from Tesh’s compositions provide flowing transitions, allowing the ensemble of brass and melodic percussion to take over. But it’s not long before picking up the pace once again with the introduction of: SPANISH STEPS, a song combining a touch of flamenco flair with jazzy overtones. Explosive percussion breaks and bold brass statements capture the passion and excitement of Spanish music, a drum corps fans favorite! The final production takes you running through the streets of BARCELONA, combining yet another adrenaline-pumping melody with a touch of the Spanish “Bull-ring” flair! Featured brass soloists and dynamic contrasts allow the corps to highlight both musical and visual moments. A finale featuring a re-entry of the AVALON theme provides the opportunity for an all-out drum corps ending, sure to leave fans with a lasting impression! The announcement has also been posting on the Kingston Grenadiers Web Site
