Crown is certainly playing the "march well, play well, spin well" card. I don't think they're going to stand still in the rankings. FAR more dirt to clean than the 3 above them. Does it have a chance to win? Maybe not. But can it MEDAL? Heck yeah.
IMHO nothing would be BETTER for this activity than to see a corps that chooses to use MORE DRILL and less RUN TO PROP AND CLIMB ON IT.
I'll repeat -- there's nothing INNOVATIVE about climbing on props and playing. It's been done many, many times in the past. Frankly it's boring. Bloo is NOT boring because Thrower managed to "not step in a steaming pile of doo-doo" while arranging the Beatle's for gods sake. IMO musically they are super engaging and that's why they're winning. (btw clearly they got the Beatles idea from Crown with Klesch's arrangement last year )
If INNOVATIVE is referring to ENGINEERING INNOVATION then sure BD is innovative.
But I'm ready to put EVERYONE'S props in the dumpster right now. BORING. Move and play gosh darn it!
</rant>
Couldn't have said it better myself! I am SOOOO tired of watching corps get rewarded for standing and climbing around on props! Part of the score has to be how well you march AND play. I'm not saying Crown would win if that were the case, but too much is being rewarded in this activity for running to spots in between playing and then when they do play, whether I like the music or not, they are just standing on props or standing in front of a microphone.
I don't consider myself someone who can't look at the activity and see innovation but I said a few years ago DCI was at a crossroads as soon as Bluecoats won by spending their entire show going up and down slides! I was worried where we were headed and what would people come up with next, and it has led to how to put meaningless props all over the field so that corps members can run around them, and stand on them and play.
PLEASE, bring back MARCHING and PLAYING AT THE SAME TIME!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Crown for attempting that again this year! I wish others would take this approach!

So can anyone there give us an update on their impression of Crown's performance tonight?
Was watching a live feed and the crowd went crazy at the company front and crown set at the end!

I suggest you watch the video a couple times more. The guard is well integrated into drill very frequently.
Agree!! This show needs a number of viewings to take it all in.

Wow, just Wow!!!! Couldn't be more proud to be a Crown parent right now!!! What they've done this spring is amazing and I can't wait to see how the summer goes!! Going to be quite the age-out year!!!!!

No leaks but some real insights into their process.
If these two guys are this giddy about this show in early June, it's going to be a GREAT summer for Crown!

This is a piece just “made for Klesch”. Going to be amazing.
It was breath taking at April camp and I can't wait to see it on the field!

Yeesh, I certainly hope it sounds nothing like those to performances/arrangements.
It's definitely The Swingles version and not these other two!!

I have been told by someone who would know, that I’m going to like them much more than I have the last two years.
You are going to absolutely LOVE this show. A drum corps show where you will be jumping up in your seat and leave the stadium humming the music.

I've been to a couple of Crown's spring training ensemble rehearsals so far, and all I can really say is that they are hauling a** and playing loud catchy music. The hornline sounds great for it being week one of spring training and the drums are on their game once again this year. No idea what the show could be at this point, but it is going to be fun to watch. Do not write them off just yet
If anybody wrote them off, that's just ridiculous! Too consistent to be written off and this year's music is going to have people on their feet and rocking! Heard the closer today and it's going to be on FIRE!!!!!

Well Crown had April camp.
They moved.
They played.
They spun.
Yet NO ONE knows
The people that were there know, and what they know is this show will be INCREDIBLY crowd appealing!

You would be right. They have another 1-1.5 min of show to finish up. The weather during spring training put things a few days behind schedule but it'll be performed very soon.
I believe it is planned to be included in Munice, IN next Friday.
