I don't specifically remember whether or not they used bass trombones or not, I just remember feeling very underwhelmed after the initial excitement of seeing them. :(

I liked the show, saw the rehearsal come through Utah on Wednesday. I can't wait to see the show with its finished product!!! I think there's soooo much potential, but the use of one CG member to portray some sort of storyline is confusing, and only the general theme of dark to light comes out, details get lost to me. But I do love the closer. The first and second act (as they called them) have some brass and visual beef!!!!!!!! Lots to clean: lots of double tonguing and moving at 180+. Marching technique really lost its definition.
They are only marching 7 snares this year, is there a particular reason to that??
And the other thing I can't believe no one's mentioned: TROMBONES!!!!! I thought the little feature was waaaaayy too short! I want to hear more, and have them pop more visually, they kind of got lost in the pit. Tried to do a SCV '14 opener type of hit.

A time not so long ago, I thought of the Blue Devils as sort of a really cocky group. But in somewhat recent light, I'm learning to love them more and more, especially with their "family" integration. Sooooo excited to see them live again this year!!! I think they're going to hit the nail on the head with the design this year.

New to DCP, but loving it! Quick question, how do predictions this season compare to last sEason at this point? Was the hype this "real" for each corps, and was the contest predicted to be this close and hard to pick? Or is this an abnormally talented and entertaining year of 2017?

The sneak peak put up on YouTube I think a month ago was called "The triumphant, the beautiful..." I'm really curious to see how they work that in, because in the same video, Will Pitts is shown to be talking about how this show will have so many different qualities: triumphant, beautiful, dark, demented, twisted, etc. If that's all true, it makes me all the more excited for the show!!!

Well considering that the video most of these declarations are being based off was taken a week ago today in Nebraska, (not counting all of you that have seen it live since then) that is a very, very true statement. :/
On a different note, the Himalayanesqe yodeling (or whatever vocals those are in the middle part of the of the show) remind me of this video:
