Does anyone know what happened to the Phantom member that was being helped off the field at the end of the show?  Was it a bass drummer?  Twisted ankle?

Great show Phantom (and great comeback from 2019)!!

1st bass drummer. I hope they can tape it up for the next couple of nights. That is a tough hole to have to march. 😕

In front of the sideline or behind it?

Mic'd soloists is a thing now. It won't go away, ever. Most of the corps are getting adept at doing it well with soloists staged on the field. A few aren't, but eventually that will catch up with them on the sheets.

As usual I made a typo every other word.  No mics from the front sideline to the back of the performance area.  Keep brass acoustic please.  If you need to mic a soloist, put them in front of the front sideline.  Nothing is accomplished with wireless mics except bad sound and Where's Waldo for soloists (and lot of other worse things).

I like this rule. A lot. If it keeps pit section on the sideline where they belong, so much the better.

    2020 rule proposal:

No mics past the front sideline.

    Would dramatically improve the activity.

Maybe put a hard limit on mics allowed on the field to provide for soloists.

I think the solution is to limit the number of minutes/seconds that mics can operate in a show. Make them make choices so that we get to hear a good portion of natural sound. If you use 20 seconds of amplification to bump up the tubas here, means 20 less seconds to use on soloist later. I have ideas on how to enforce/penalize people who go over but that is a other thread.

I forget when the change occurred, we missed Atlanta that year, but went to night beats, the first one at wake forest I believe, I don’t think they were in Black there, was the change at Indy ?

Allentown was the uniform change I think. Definitely not NightBeat, I was there too.

Hats off tonite to the Cadets. Missing 16 marchers, holes everywhere, thats a daunting task. But they never pulled out of the show. They pushed thru it all. No quit in them tonite, and those that were healthy in their Corps, or at least somewhat healthy, went out there and competed and performed for the audience, no matter what. Some of us notice these things. And  we tip the hat to the 110% effort the Cadet Corps gave out there tonite under such trying circumstances. Some " wins " arn't found in the scores. Tonite... with the Cadets... is an example of such.

When the announcer asked “Is the Corps ready?”, I wanted the Drum Major to turn around do the “so-so” wave of the hand while shrugging. :)
