  1. You're not being snarky, you're just having bad manners at this point. A poster or two... Heh. Okay.
  2. But this does relate to DCI World Class judging, along with other marching arts. So this is appropriate. Thank you.
  3. But there is. There's plenty of commentary here, week-to-week during the summer season, through various threads, alleging all sorts of things. A rececnt one that comes to mind is regarding a [particular judge] judging [a particular caption] putting [a particular corps] against XYZ unit(s) in 123 rankings and seeming "off" by many people. Not going to link it. Were you there? Do you know the sheets? What would you have done differently if you were in his/her place?
  4. Yep. My original post didn't mean any organization specifically, but all of the marching arts activities. There are plenty of said comments and allegations. This happens on the forums, on social media, and in real life. My goal is to help dispel or mitigate confusion and encourage folks who are fans of the pageantry activities to get more involved with the judging community if they aren't already. It gets stressful during championship season, people freak out, and fingers are pointed at us for all sorts of reasons. People take it personally and I've received threats at times. We just want the activity to flourish.
  5. Okay. Anyone at any time has any right to be "snarky" as they please. Please allow me that right. You proved my point that you did NOT in fact read my comments because I consistently refused to provide names to @Stu The issue you seem to have with me is that I think many judges should retire. That's only part of my original post. You now know that I believe that people should start trial judging. So what do you wish to discuss?
  6. I can't speak for bias. We're trained to judge the sheets. Hence why you should trial judge. You have the experience on the outside. Get involved if you can. Otherwise, it's just "conspiracy" bull*@&@
  7. Interesting. When one puts forth an argument, it is defended. Seems that you're upset about something. Like I said, I didn't mean to offend, so let's discuss.
  8. You didn't read the thread, did you? I am not providing names.
  9. Sure. I am trialing for a new caption. My mentor is a veteran female. She is definitely someone I do NOT want to retire and she has been involved in the activity for decades. My other option, which I politely refused, is a male who has been involved in the activity for substantially less time.
  10. Yes. I judge with them. Didn't mean to offend. However, I implore you to run some numbers. The trends with some judges who have been with the activity for a long time can provide some insight as to my argument.
  11. Not sure how to respond to this. You have a good point. I have no power over this. The best thing to do is trial judge regardless of your age and gender. We need skilled people.
  12. Nope. Because they have been judging for a long time. And I said many. Not all. Not most. Many.
  13. It's just a reflection and just an opinion from years of judging with many skilled people on various levels. I am absolutely not going to provide examples because that would be rude and unprofessional. I work with these people. Write me off as having no merit--it does not matter. If you want, you can throw some numbers into your favorite spreadsheet software and see what I mean. Or argue with me (or others). That's cool too. My main point is that readers of this forum and fans of the activity who aren't judges, regardless of their age, should consider judging. We need more passionate analytical people involved.
  14. Thank you for your response. Also, thank you providing lots of interesting discourse over the years. Great reading material. If you--and others reading this--have had the patience/curiosity to go over the recaps from show-to-show, from year-to-year, unit-to-unit, and caption-to-caption, and do some true analysis, you'll see what I mean. Do you take notes on the names below the caption header? Do you know who they are? Their history? Their trends? Why XYZ flux in numbers? Did you actually watch XYZ show(s)? Regardless, I kindly and politely refuse to comply to your 3 ultimatums. I said I'm here to answer questions. Not to defend a dissertation. I stand by my original post and those thereafter. Thank you.
  15. So twelve pages of arguments. Any other questions about judging? So called "conspiracies?" I'll be back in the morning. Unless I'm banned.
  16. Which sheets? There are several. Also, like I said, Once AGAIN, not a DCI judge here....
  17. That's right man. It get's stressful. But you do what you gotta do. It's really interesting when you have no idea where any of the other captions are at... and you really have to rely on your experience. Man--it truly makes things interesting does it not?
