Crown on pg. 2?! As we get into the meet (sp?) of the season?
Jeeze folks. Speculate, ad lib, sum’in.
H@ll, fake DCI newz even…
I apologize, I have had a very hectic week in preparation for my vacation down to San Antonio. Flying out late tonight after work. Super excited to see them in the Alamodome next weekend. It’s a show day, so everyone who is going please enjoy yourself.
And yes, I think we’d all enjoy a cake recipe or two given we won’t be able to consume it live from home

Oh yeah they completely left the closer out wow.

Sounds like there was a tempo increase on the fourth movement on this performance/

This page is oddly quiet.
Who all is going tonight?

I can't wait to see what they have added and cleaned by this show tomorrow. I love to see the incremental changes from one show to another.

I just noticed last night that Arthur pulls the sword out of the table. I had been watching on high cam the first couple of shows that I completely missed it, plus the things I mentioned late last night. The show has several layers to it already, and there's still so much more to add. Drill will change, music will change, the closer will DEFINITELY change. We're just getting started with this show, and they've already began to layer (heard a little in the brass book last night).
Yeah I heard some of the new layers in the brass book last night too. And the Tuba multi-tonguing feature came out much more clear this show than it had the last few shows too. A lot of cleaning creates layering in itself.

You can tell the ensemble has built a lot more endurance the last two weeks as well, they sound a lot more relaxed as is typical with every corps.

The ballad *really* struck me today. That is going to make people cry come finals night. I can feel it. The silence is deafening.

I fell asleep very early yesterday after a very long day, so I missed the show and had to watch it later. The show is being sold more and more with each watch, and it was overall WAY cleaner this show than the first. There are some parts that came across with much more clarity musically than they did a few days ago, and found myself saying wow when I heard new parts come out of the muck. I can see where so much more is going to be added.
Great job on the win for them and I hope they widen the gap some more with Bloo between now and NightBeat. I can't wait to see them live at San Antonio in two and a half weeks, ticket has already been bought. (I fly down there next Sunday for three weeks to visit family and friends and I am so excited.)I love this show and am already starting to build and emotional connection to it, some sections are already really starting to sell the concept really well.

I know this thread is about Sousa but I just want to hijack this thread and talk about my two favorite marches right now.
Rolling Thunder by Henry FilmoreAnd The World is Waiting for Sunrise by Harry Alford
I will share my favorite Sousa marches here shortly.

This is going to be really interesting to see how these three corps stack up against one another this early in the season. Much will change between now and finals, but it will be great to see them competing against one another.

Which would still be perfect for the heartbreak that Arthur is feeling.
...and would still be perfect for a powerful closer too.

Lacrimosa is the perfect piece to convey the push and pull and the emotions that would happen in the battle between arthur and his son. It would be a GE powerhouse depending on how they arrange it and do the scene.

Lacrimosa is already in the show. It's at the end of the 2nd movement before the ballad. I'm sure it'll make a reappearance a la Hallelujah in 2016.
Yeah I know it is, I want t hear it properly fleshed out in the closer like I think it will be.

Why do I get the feeling that the section where the brass is in pods playing this technical part after the first big drum break about three minutes into the show is going to increase in tempo a bit by the end of the season. It oddly feels....slow? I can tell by the foot timing of the drums that it feels slow to them, making me think that they are repping it at a faster tempo and plan to up the tempo on that section by the end of the season. It would make sense too.

It's a SHOW DAY! Good luck out there tonight Crown! Blow us away once again.
Something I love about having so many shows in a season is getting to see the incremental improvements show to show from not only this corps but all corps. It is really fascinating for me to watch.- 4

I can definitely tell they let the brass blow this time though. Sounded MUCH louder in the impact moments. Also might be the reason why brass had an off night in the ballad. The herald trumpets and muted trumpets were MUCH cleaner though. And they really need to clean that stationary brass feature in movement 2. Percussion was also off in the ballad and may have contributed to their lower score.
