Garry Owen March is the corps' parade/trooping the stands tune.

Not the best quality but a good year for Pio. Always enjoyed any Trooping of the Stands.   My Father was from Cudahy and Mother was from S.Milw.

Right now, people are scared, not just about Covid-19 though that is more than a reasonable concern, but the unknown. We may have a chance to reach out, if not financially, but as a listening ear, a compassionate friend, or someone who can assist in other ways. Remember too when we help others, we may be changing their lives even though we do not know it.

I know where my check (less whatever tax is taken out) is going to go.  The Food Banks in AZ are hurting and they do so much good.  BTW I posted earlier regarding Tax day being moved from April 15 to July 15, no penalties or interest accessed.  The State of AZ has followed suit. Check your State Department of Revenue if this pertains to you.

  3. Thanks for the detailed, helpful post Rich. Been through some Do Do in my time on this rock, but this is starting to easily take the cake.  Not that all who are infected cash it in and end up on the wrong side of the grass, it's just the sheer enormity of the issue!  Went to College, night school on the GI Bill.  Had a History Professor (actually he and his wife administered the extension program), his admitted primary interest was Russian history.  We were dealing with the Crimean War and he made mention that there had been a major war every 25 years and that was natures way of culling the population.  I don't want this to sound sick but I have begun to think that way about this situation.

I'm pretty sure the governor was not a math major, and I am certain he did not get those numbers from anyone with any credibility at all.

Suggest that you contact MSN or the Governors' office regarding the validity of this information.  I merely posted because the request for the Hospital ship was thru September 1.  If that is the case I doubt the Government is going to allow large, rolling,  petri dishes to be touring the countryside.

  5. Check out CA Governors announcement today basically telling everyone in the State to stay home.  Also a projection that over 50% of the resident's in the State would be infected,  Also that if the former is the case there would be a 20k shortfall in hospital beds.  He  has requested that a Hospital ship be dispatched to the port of Los Angeles.

A lot of people get their "news" from what's shared to their feeds on Facebook, and from what I've seen (I'm not on Facebook myself), it ain't pretty. That said, I have no idea what misleading news sources lead to situations like this:

"A pastor from a Baptist church in Conway, Arkansas, expressed concern about his congregation's reaction to the coronavirus.

Rev. Josh King, the lead pastor of Second Baptist Church, reported that members of his church think the coronavirus is a hoax ... He told the Washington Post that some of Arkansas's parishioners were willing to go to great lengths to prove there was nothing to fear about the COVID-19 virus.

'One pastor said half of his church is ready to lick the floor, to prove there’s no actual virus,' King said after meeting with several other Baptist pastors to discuss halting church services."

That story is from four days ago, though. Maybe the parishioners have wised up since then.

When I retired I relocated to AR,  got a nice place in the country (2 1/2 acres) .  Your post reminds me why I have lived in AZ the past 20 + yrs.

It is the first day of Spring.   I just watched  SCV's  "Force of Nature".   I could not help but get a bit teared up.

Have a pea gravel yard (xeriscaping) with the recent rain the Mexican Poppy's and the Indian Paint Brush are in full bloom.  It's a pain to clean up later but, so beautiful now. Spring has sprung and the surrounding desert is alive just amazingly wondrous.

Suppose a year ago that you had been asked to make a contribution to a new national fund meant to make sure that all hospitals had more than enough equipment in the event of a pandemic.

Would you have made that contribution?

TBH probably not.  But I did donate a brand new respirator mask and three boxes of filters to the local hospital, yesterday.

Is this the Imperial College plan (I'd appreciate a source of your Government Plan)?

THIS is a competing view.  Taleb is the author of Black Swan and Fooled by Randomness.  Two books that directly relate to stock market crashes and pandemics.

If you're serious about understanding just how wrong you can be, you should read Fooled today.  (Think Jeff Goldblum in Jurassic Park, letting water roll off Laura Dern's hand.  Randomness.)

Type in: U..S. Government COVID - 19 Response Plan you will get the PDF.

I looked at that one also.  I read "The Plan" less  all the Bureaucratic mumbo jumbo and didn't download.  Tried to revisit it and the previous link which was just "The Plan" highlighted in a paragraph was gone!  This is the best I can do on the rebound!    https://www.businessinsider.com/us-coronavirus-warning-pandemic-will-last-18-months-multiple-waves-2020-3  Headed out to the lake shortly, hopefully will beat the rain.  Wind is picking up and any lure will probably be in Las Cruces, NM  on the first flick.

  11. Per Government Plan (100 pages) for policymakers the pandemic could be an 18 month (Trump referenced today) affair with multiple waves.  Possible shortages and health care short comings addressed.  Would post link for plan , but although the plan heading states unclassified  it also states not for public distribution.  Wrong time to go to the slammer.   Unfortunately just don't see the tour happening this year.  I'm vested also in tickets and donations for 2020.  Phoenix and San Antonio, was looking forward to it.
