You act like that is the hardest thing that someone could do. I've seen videos of HS marching bands doing this. In fact there was a HS from TX that basically had the same drill and musical responsibilities of an old Cadets show (I believe Sacktig did their drill). Anyway, if HS kids ranging from 13-17 on way less rehearsal time can do it well......I don't see why you want to argue so badly both era's and styles have value and they are both great. I just have the opinion that today's product requires more physical, musical and mental demand.

But it isn't just running. Each person has specific counts, leaving and arrival times, pathways and body responsibilities as they move through space. A well choreographed "scatter" isn't really a scatter but a designed and rehearsed design element just as any other drill move. It requires skill both mentally and physically from the marching member just as a drill set from 1988 would for a marcher of that era.

You can put a dress on a horse but at the end of the day it's still a horse

And in this world, there is no room for Fraternistic teachings, There is no room for Men to be Men (in the old sense), because that is simply an awful horrible existence for Women, You have to teach boys growing up now that Women are to be treated with respect as TRUE equals, because in many cases they are the greater of the two.. (The USWNT is a clear example of that.) You cannot teach a boy how to be man without teaching a boy how to be a man around/towards women.

So when will I be able to try out for the USWNT?

We're wowed by the big memorable z-pulls of the world. But what about simple moves that you've always found effective?

One that always sticks in my mind is the amoeba-to-triangle transition in the 1996 Regiment show (at the 2:50 mark below). What are others?

A.K.A. good drill doesn't exist anymore.

Found this on reddit and thought we should discuss it here, about the safety and liability of ALL THOSE PROPS

Get rid of props? Go back to marching and music?

    Just a thought

The high schools charge substantially more now.

Ok I'll take your word on this even though no numbers were provided. Let's say the costs of necessities (spring training, tour housing) have risen exponentially over the last 15 years. What have the corps done to try and offset these costs?
