Wow...you didn;t even vote for your OWN SHOW, Dave? I'm shocked!!
And -- much as it pains me to say -- my vote goes to 1984 as well...but 87 is a very, VERY close second...
Hi Sam. No, WSS didn't do much for me. While I am very proud to have been a member, I liked Garfield's '87 and '83 shows a lot better.
It's just a personal taste thing.
PS -- Thanks for the love. I'm glad you liked the show. We got lucky in '84. :)

The 1982 Blue Devils were/are the most perfect drum corps I have ever seen.
Amazing.
-
I had to go with 1987.
The company front gives me goosebumps EVERY time I watch it.
Pure genius!

Is it just me, or is there is something... I don't know... FUNNY about all of these church based drum corps getting into fights with one another?

The mello soloist for 1983-84 Garfield. %^$&... I can't remember her name but she was awesome!!!
Barbara Maroney. And yes, she was awesome.

The best drum corps bari soloist I've ever heard by a wide margin!
I agree. That guy was unreal.

The uniforms were originally donated to them from West Point and they added the gold cumberbund and probably some other small touches
I always thought that they were from the Air Force Academy. Oh well.

There was one on ebay about six months ago. You may want to check there from time to time.

Sorry Sam. That wasn't me. That was Dawn.
You know, it really is too bad there was a soprano dragging around a line of tape on bottom of his shoe during BD's closer that year. It probably cost them the championship.
^0^

Bad direction or not, at least we have the DVDs. It's MUCH better than nothing.
Amen.

I bet he meant to say 87 -- not 97.

This is where it's unfortunate Ken Kobold is gone. 1982 Prelims were held at McGill University and the acoustics were fine. I ordered SCV's and our prelim performances from that year and the sound quality was much better than Finals.
I've always wondered about this. What does Santa Clara's "original" -- or "non bottle dance" 1982 ending sound like? The funny thing is that I was there at McGill and I don't remember!

The wreck happened at Whitewater FINALS in 84 -- not prelims. Prelims was our best show of the year.

Wow! What a great review. Thanks for taking the time to crank that out.

'82 Regiment is one of my all time favorite shows. I simply love the horn arrangement. I listen to and watch it VERY often.
Thanks for a wonderful show!!
