Always remember this...
When you are on tour, you are no longer representing only yourself. It does not matter if you're in your uniform or not, act as if you are the face of an entire organization. You are now representing every member who has marched in the corps before you, and every member who will march after you.

dear cadets --
hey guys! we're here. we're watching. we can't wait to see the show!
we got a lot of the same strange vitriolic reaction from alumni when we (laid on the ground for the ballad/went with reversed unis/marched a show with no shakos/had flowers on our backs/shortened the drop sash/lengthened the plumes/added gauntlets/removed gauntlets/put a female dm in a skirt/went to six buttons/eliminated pins/brought pins back/did shows in corps jackets and jeans/started walking to warmup in half uniform/switched from bucks to dinkles/switched buckles for mirrors/went out in shorts and polo shirts).
march and play like cadets -- more importantly, live your lives like cadets -- and what you wear means very little.
sincerely,

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I'm never going back to Indy for finals. Ever. As soon as Finals moves out of the dome, I'll be back in the stands.
Fortunately there are a lot of smaller (outdoor) shows I can go to here in Ohio.

I always wanted a corps to do "Fall Fair" by Godfrey Ridout.

Hop didn't realze they were backwards until Thom Hannum came in 83 and fixed them...
Actually, the toms were still backwards in 83 and 84 as well. I'm pretty sure 1985 was the first time they were "correct."

I'm just glad I wouldn't have had to ride on the "woodwind bus." ((shudder))

Less cheese and more awesome.

Congratulations to the Blue Devils! Awesome accomplishment! Enjoy.

Obviously you can't perform without your truck of instruments, lol...
Back in 84 we did (I think two?) shows without our instruments since our truck was MIA. We had to borrow horns, drums, the pit, and even flags from the Crossmen and Spirit of Atlanta. But we still performed.

I am really looking forward to this show tonight.

I will be there tonight! Can't wait. I am also bringing a "first timer" to the show. It will be interesting to find out what his take is.
