I'm hoping they are within 2 points of BD & BC. I just hope they get credit from the judges with all the drill that they are doing but I guess we'll know the answer to that Saturday night. Oh and the Ott trophy is staying in Carolina..

Marching Drill and playing needs to start being rewarded again. I feel like it's not appreciated anymore. And I love seeing drill. I tend to watch older shows with good marching and playing, and I get excited all over again like it's my first time viewing it.

Over on the Premiere show thread, the season is over. BD and Bloo take it all. No further competition necessary. Thank you for playing.

    Obviously I disagree.

I agree too.  Its crazy how Crown is non existent in those threads. Anyway they just wait until Crowns first show.

It is so sooo bad. The purple feels tired and the effects are tacky.  The plume is too short for the massing on the shakos (also Crossman in shakos... I thought they learned in the late 90'?).

Paints need tailoring and the tunics hemmed up two inches at least. They look so stumpy and dumpy.

Very much large budget Texas high school with no talented designer to make up for this attempt.

    So wrong.

I 100% agree with both comments. I'm so upset with Crossmen. 2021 Show was good ans 2019 was great.  I'd place them out of the top 12.

  4. I'm so excited to see this program by Crown 2022. What I've seen so far has put a huge smile on my face. I can't believe that they are going to be in Atlanta 3 times during their tour. I also had no clue that they'd be performing literally in the heart of Atlanta at Midtown( Grady) High School stadium next to the beautiful Piedmont Park.  I always envisioned a Drum Corps Show there bc the stadium is a nice size. I don't think to many people in Atlanta City Limits are aware of DCI, so this is going to be great. I also noticed that there aren't many tickets sold for that show, which is possibly because most are going to the Southeastern Championships at GA State University Stadium (1996 Olympic Stadium).  Anyway Good Luck Crown, I have good feeling about this show. I just know it's going to get better as the season goes.

I'm getting a bit tired of the BOA style openings in drum corps ( no disrespect to BOA)..You know, the quiet, coming to life or coming out of darkness into light stuff before the big hit..The ballet like dancing by #### near everyone and the requisite lifting of a guard member to the sky..lol...I still love drum corps but these openings are becoming too predictable IMO ..Hope to hear some ######, high pace openings just to break the monotony..that's all..peace.

Just take a look at Crossmen 2022. Literally a whole BOA show and look. Not one thing from the corps says Crossmen. They look like a really good BOA band from Texas. I can't get into their show at all. I dozed off and it's just noon where I am.

So I downloaded the app this morning.  Thought there might be info on housing, etc., but it just sits there.  Does it only work when you're at the venue & they're set up to send info?  I'm old...

I believe it's just for the show. If you look at who designed the application and research it you'll see it made specifically for the performance.  That's how I found out what they may be doing with it by doing my own research. It appears that Pro and College Sports have used this company for fan experience during the games using same application.

Alright Crown fans.  I have a detailed update from tonight's ensemble rehearsal, as they were in full uniform, the crowd used the Crown Live App (I personally loved every second of it) and the props were fully dressed.  A couple of things to note per my discussions: 1) some of the props are not ready yet and will not be in the show for the next couple of weeks due to delays in shipping (they have a decent amount of props already on the field already, btw) 2) the closer is only 3/4's done, because the last 75 seconds of drill is so hard and fast that the staff has not been to get it to a good spot at this time, so they stand and play it and it is so loud you need headphones, lol.  From my understanding, they will be working on the remaining closer drill during this upcoming week.

Part 1:  I really love the Jacob Collier piece.  Not only is this super cool, but it also has such a cool vibe it that the audience will be surprised by the wall of sound coming from the first note.  The smack was sensational in such a good way!  I think this adds great GE.  Nothing really to say here other than, its loud and to the point.

Part 2: Insane, Insane, Insane.  The visual and the music are just insanity.  I was speechless, but I also see a lot of dirty feet in this section, so I can see putting a lot of time into cleaning this part.  Its a maximum level of difficulty in the DCI arena.

Part 3: This ballad is simply one of the best Crown has ever played.  I agreed with someone's comment earlier about babies being thrown.  OMG the sweet parts are ear candy and the climax is loud it will bring you to your feet.

Part 4: ####, ####, ####!  This is the coolest part of the show.  Words cannot describe how cool this part is and the drum feature is freaking amazing.  There is a lot going on in this part and everyone will need more than one viewing to catch it all.  The guard also has some great moments in this part.  I also like the choreography that the brass does in this section.  The staff deserve a lot of credit for this section.

Part 5:  The closer is typical Crown.  It's pretty dirty feet wise at the moment, but they work on it for 2 plus hours tonight and will continue to do so in time. The music builds, builds, builds, and builds some more, until you are left with a wall of sound and everyone is on their feet clapping.

I will say this is not your typical Crown show, as it has its own identify.  Anyhow, I cannot wait for the world to see what I just experienced tonight.  I hope they have an undefeated season.

    -Good Night!

Thank You so much for the update.  So far the only show I've only been able to connect to is Phantom Regiment. Can't wait to hear and see Crown 2022. And I would love to see a undefeated season by them as well.  Let's make sure the judges download the app.

This is a big bummer. They seemed to be on such a good track in 2019. Now, they only have 7 tubas and tons of holes! There is another corps in SoCal call Gold, they are a open class corps. They have 16 tubas! Looks like PAC Crest needs to hire their recruitment person. Sad to say, I don’t think this will get anywhere near finals .

I said the same thing and made comment about the show. 2019 was a jumpstart for the corps but I see that is not going to continue. I tried give it another viewing but it's a no for me. If Phantom 2019 show got 12th, which was really good, there is no way this show could break into the top 12.

All corps have lost their identity from Blue Devels, Santa Clara, Bluecoats, Crown, Boston, and so on.  I would suggest you get over it.  The hole activity has changed!!!!   I thought the performance was great given it was their first show and what I saw was a finalist level corps.

Not at all. I can still identify alot of other corps mentioned.  I understand the activity has changed but I could listen to audio and could tell who the corps was bc each corps had their own sound as well.  Boston for a second sounded like the Cadets after some brass staff changed but now they are sounding more like themselves, jmo.  Anyway I hope Crossmen have a great 2022 Season!!!

Is it just me or do shakos look really weird on Crossmen?

Yeah, they don't look like Crossmen at all to me. They look more like a really good BOA band. They show is ok. Looks like the Crossmen brand is gone as well.  Going to shows in my younger years I'd get excited when pointing out certain corps in the lot, now you have to ask who they are. Who is that???

So great to hear Phantom's brass back!  As for Boston, although hard to tell, given the lousy audio quality, their book seems rather dark, and not that well arranged. But, we'll have to wait till Detroit to get a better measure of the show.

I agree Boston is a hard read for me. It is very dark and it doesn't do anything for me musically.  Listening to Phantom really got me excited to see them on the field.

I think the uniform on the guy in the front is too big for him and hopefully not his actual uniform. The guy on the right I think has a good fit and it looks nice. I wonder if the triangle will be a fold over down into a different look.

Idk. I see the pic of them doing some visual movement and it's still doesn't look good to me.

Themes and intent are totally overrated. Put together a great show and everything else will fall into place.

Crown's brass in 2019 was absolutely sizzling, can't wait to hear them this summer.

I agree. Themes are definitely Overrated. When I listen to audio I personally don't care about the theme at all. A show can have a theme and not flow well.

  14. I'm so excited to know that Crown is putting Jacob Collier on the field. He one of my favorite musical artist. He's such a musical genius.  All of his work is amazing. Can't wait to hear Crown and BD battle it out because they both have Jacob Collier pieces in their repertoire. I have a feeling this is going to be a great season. Good Luck Crown!!! I'm 100% rooting for you. I encourage everyone to check Jacob Colliers Music, he's amazing.

Diversity is an issue for the entire drum corps community.  If you look around at most drum corps staff's this is a weak point.  With that in mind, I really like the additions to the staff in design, visual, percussion, and color guard, and hope that 2022 is an fantastic year that ends with medaling.

As a person who people identify as a person of color(?) I don't think there really is a problem with diversity in DCI. I think its just is what it is.  The(people of color) community in my opinion aren't  interested in DCI style. They prefer showband style( HBCU). There is even a comedian that joked about white bands, which thought it was offensive. I appreciate all types of musical styles. I hope DCI doesn't cave into the crap, and select people based on qualifications as they should. DCI is my preferred marching style, and I enjoy HBCU when I want to get my jam on.

Anyway, Good Luck Crown on your 2022 season. Praying for a great successfull one. Stay prayed up.
