True. But Pioneer didn’t fit well into the current DCI brand. If the same thing happened at a top 15 Corps DCI does little to nothing. SoA’s time-out was self-imposed

No system is perfect. But, how does Drum Corps do better than what is currently done?
Stop passing the buck to the member organizations whenever something goes down. WGI released a statement in September stating that Diamante cannot participate in WGI events until certain actions are taken. I would not be surprised to hear that those actions involve Mario Ramirez being removed from the organization.

Expertly written statement that checks all the correct boxes. That said, Shelba is one of the best there is and if they actually do everything she recommends, they will be one of the safest places to march next year.

Unless another city can match the deal DCI gets from the city of Indy & Marion county, its staying for a long, long time
A more interesting conversation might be where does DCI go if Indianapolis stops being such a hospitable environment?

Earlier today, the NFL Franchise behind the Tennessee Titans released renderings of a brand-new, 60k-capacity stadium for the city of Nashville. As a Tennessean myself, it's hard not be excited at what looks like a state-of-the-art stadium and the prospect of more events coming to our state. If you'd like, you can check out the renderings at: https://www.tennesseetitans.com/news/titans-release-renderings-of-proposed-new-stadium
This all had me thinking about the possibility of DCI having World Championships in Nashville following the end of the contract with Lucas Oil in 2028. For biased, I'd love to see DCI have World Championships in Nashville. It's a match made in heaven: it's closer to Texas and in the Southeastern United States where marching band is generally a bit more significant and serious culturally while being close enough to the Midwest and Northeast to keep historical and cultural connections, it's more centrally located for almost all of the member corps (with the exception of corps west of the Rocky Mountains), it's a state-of-the-art stadium in one of the fastest growing and nicest cities in the country, and you'd be able to have DCI World Championships in a city literally nicknamed "Music City". Doesn't get much better than all that.
Regardless, if DCI decides to not extend their contract for World Championships with Lucas Oil past 2028 and DCI still exists (since that seems up in the air these days), where could you see DCI moving Championships? Would we return to a new location every year (although that seems economically infeasible), see another contract signed with a stadium somewhere else in the country, or maybe a combination of the two where DCI signs shorter contracts with multiple places?
One of the challenges will be holding championships in a part of the country where school has not resumed yet. Some districts in Texas start the first week of August, with band camp the preceding 3 weeks.
Another concern would be proximity to the DCI HQ. I imagine being able to visit Lucas Oil every couple of weeks is part of what makes it an attractive venue. DCI would have to be willing to either forgo that convenience or move or set up a regional office.

Adiago in D Minor has some of that BK 2019 "Sudden Throw" vibe to it. Very nice.
I would also like more Olafur Arnalds on the field.

You say "not that i wanted the 10th variation on 1995..." like it would be a bad thing. 😀
There's no shortage of contemporary material that could deliver that same kind of fire. Whenever they did music from Ainadamar, I was REALLY hoping they would do the opening of Act 1:

Anyone remember the movie Sunshine? Some of the music was big in the winter guard scene. I think Adagio in D Minor could be interesting on the field.

i enjoyed the performance as well, but the material left me a little flat. not that i wanted the 10th variation on 1995, but i was hoping for more
I appreciated that someone put Tangerine Dream on the field, I didn't really expect it.

Is this meant to be a back handed insult? If I were an alumnus, it would be to me. Do you know what sexist means?
The Scouts are gone. I don't mean the all-male corps, but the corps known as the Scouts.
I expect we respectfully disagree about all of this, and that's fine.I believe Orwellian Wiress was referencing the often heated discourse around the Scouts as they were deciding to become co-ed.
I'm an alum. A former student is on staff. Another former student was among the first women on the field last year. I'm not insulted, and they are still the Scouts to me.

I don't know too much about Scouts besides "we were sexist but now we're not" and The Heart and Last Man Standing (that's what it's called right? The Mad Max one?). I really like those two shows
The Mad Max show had a lot of cool ideas, but it was hampered by pacing and a color palate that would have been better on a winter guard/winter drumline tarp.
The heart show had a moment where the blue flags were swapped behind the prop to red and I don't know if they got recognition for that on an intellectual level.

Marched with Dan. He always seemed incredibly focused but fair to me; our interaction was minimal. Initially, I was happy for Academy and him with this announcement.
Unfortunately, our era of SCV had plenty of issues with treatment from the visual staff and members-to-members.However, reading the comments on Reddit is concerning. Perhaps this role serves him better than a visual position.
I'm of the mindset that someone who demonstrates a disregard for the well being of the members will continue to do so, regardless of their role within the organization. My concern with him being in a greater position of power is that he may hire like-minded individuals and fail to hold them accountable if members raise concerns.

If so, we marched together for 2.5 seasons.
Also if so, he's another one, of so many people promoted within the industry at the leadership level, that was witness to the abusive culture I brought to light in my public report from April... and still hasn't said a word to me or publicly about it. Fine. My time is long over.
So in the end, these reports on reddit that he perpetuated harm at SOA as caption head and Phantom as a tech must just be coincidence. ✌️
The same Academy that has a percussion guy who was put on leave from his university gig? I'm sensing a trend here.

DCP has an annual thread where people exchange their excitement about staff losing their jobs.
Hoping so and so and thier teams get fired.
Making employment predictions and what-not.
Rooting for terminations.
I'm not sure why we'd expect this situation to be any different.
While I don't wish for people to lose jobs (unless they are a danger to students), it can be fun to speculate what kinds of shows will result from mixing X percussion person, Y brass person, and Z guard person. I liken it to all of the shuffling of players/coaches in pro sports.

If I'm reading correctly, the NWSL investigation was commissioned by the US Soccer Federation.
I would think, in the case of Drum Corps, any independent investigation would need to be commissioned by DCI.
Sorry, but I just don't see that happening.
I hate that I agree with you.

I love how her profile says she “decided” to march at another corps after 4 years with PR and her last being guard captain.
She was forced out. She caused so many problems as guard captain that it kept the entire guard fighting with each other the entire season. They were glad to see her go.
I have no idea why she was allowed back other than they were probably desperate to find someone to fill the guard caption head spot.
How many people have we seen "pursue other opportunities" or "retire"? Looks a lot better than kicked out, turned a blind eye, or got caught doing something wrong.
