How hard is it to be a good person? Not just in drum corps, but in life?
Isn't that one of the core tenets of why we want people in this activity? To make them better people? How can that be achieved with such rot in the leadership?

And I have always wanted to do this. I big white box at the back of the field labeled "prop", white flags with "flag" printed on them and generic costumes with "costumes" printed on them. .
There was an indoor show based on Dali that played with this a bit. Silks saying "This is not a flag", etc.

what does the "performance coach" do?
Characterization among other things. I got to participate in a session of his once at a clinic for instructors and judges. He was fantastic.

Interesting observation- I went to Academy web page to see who was listed as percussion staff. Looks like they haven’t updated since spring 22; says ‘Info coming soon’.
The conspiracy theory fan in me wonders if it was kept off because if they listed who they had hired, it would adversely impact recruitment.
If who you hire adversely impacts recruitment, are they worth hiring?

I've never heard the song but I love the idea of a show starting with high energy and excitement and slowing down for a calm, quiet ending.
It's a cantata, and a wild ride. Definitely worth a listen during your morning commute.

Oceana by Osvaldo Golijov. 1st movement is the preshow, 2-6 are the meat of the show, 7 is the denouement/fade away ending

I just taught the Gilded Age to my 11th graders. Seems like a bleak era to make a show about, but I live for bleak shows. I'll have to check it out!
