  1. Looks like Onyx team is OUT. https://www.troopersdrumcorps.org/single-post/announcing-chris-mccarthy-as-guard-designer-caption-supervisor I would assume that the Origins Staff would be coming with him.....maybe he is a good fit as "staff coordinator." That's a big pick-up from a recruiting standpoint.
  2. The video is hideous.....looks like my 9 year old made it on my old windows 95 computer.
  3. Oh for sure. Totally agree. I was just poking fun. Discussing two sides to a coin is always a good thing.
  4. who hurt you? lol your bio says you marched scouts 2008-2010....sounds like the outgoing PC made you run 🤣
  5. Wes Cartwright is...not Wes P. Darrin Davis could whip everyone into shape....if Madison could get him in ANY capacity. It would be huge. To what I have been told by a staff member.....the organization was going to move forward with the current team. Several design team members resigned finals week. No information to why so far.
  6. Not really my point. My response was to an earlier comment that “they need to go get young successful WGI designers.” We are in agreement that the administration needs to take ownership. You don’t blame the employee you give responsibility when they aren’t ready for it….you blame the employer/manager. It hasn’t been working. hopefully this will be the time they change and make it work.
  7. Once again...I am always taken aback by how ignorant the commentary on this forum is.....it is a shame this organization is once again having to rebuild another design team after a very young and talented group of designers was there. Someone mentioned "young WGI designers" ....you obviously do not know the activity well. The group that was there for the last few years is very successful in both BOA and WGI. a light google search shows..... Jason Robb - PC at Rouse , Waxahachie, Hendrickson, Dripping Springs, and Aledo...band is not DCI...but he obviously is doing great work in his fall productions. Noah Bellamy - Designer at Infinity (5th in IW Perc), Clover (WGI Champions)....I think he writes most of the drills for the above bands? not sure...but he obviously is successful in thw winter Ryan Ellis - Was the artistic director, battery arranger, and visual designer at the IW percussion group Connexus...WGI Finalist. Matt Hahn - Built Lebanon when they were SW Finalist, MBI (Medaled at WGI), Irondale (Won WGI), Vanderbilt Catholic Tykeem Rainey - Reagan HS, Onyx, Origins World and Open Designers who were relatively unsuccessful at Madison and now have moved on to other drum corps.....Vince Oliver (Brass Arranger at Mandarins), Josh Nelson & Co. (Colts), James Sparling (Cadets), Roger Carter (Bluecoats) I am not saying this crew didn't have things to fix....but ever since Jim Mason and Donnie VanDoren left after 2014....we have seen year after year of struggles. But we once again see a corps fail to capitalize on a wide-open slot in finals. When is this administration going to take responsibility and lay solid foundation for BEING GOOD.
  8. The thread here since the Madison premiere is absolutely brutal. The thought of completely writing a group of students/staff/designers' entire season off, after one preview show is about as short-sighted as they come. If I was a member of the Madison Scouts and I read some of these posts - I would me mortifed. As an alumnus of the corps, myself - I am always shocked at how brutally we are to ourselves. Jesus. I personally seem to feel like this show is moving way in the right direction for them (compared to last year). Brass, Perc, and Guard all seem way stronger than last year. It seems like the show has a better identity and a pretty substantial raise in content difficulty. Boerma's presence in the design is a big big upgrade to me as well. As for not having the closer on - their standstill of the musical book seemed shockingly strong to me - the brass looked like they were pretty confidently doing drill step outs. I took that as they have it on - but something might have prevented them from marching and playing it. Who knows. All that to say - excited for them, I am attending the Madison Show on Saturday - excited to see/hear it in person. In the Alumni facebook group - it looked like some design team members were going to be present at the alumni tent. Will be interesting to see what their thoughts are. Haters gonna hate - I am excited for them and hope they kick ### this season.
  9. sounds like they have their 5th movement on the field but wanted to give their guard a few more days before unleashing it. I am pretty encouraged....this seems like about 10,000% more drill than last year....I bet they still have a ton of visual production to do. Guard seemed MUCH improved. I am excited for team madison!
