My point that the agreement that the paid groups sign shouldn't be the same one that the minicorps, who have to pay, must also sign still hasn't been addressed. Whether there is another venue for minicorps competition is not the point, and whether DCA charges admission for the minicorps competition is also not the point. I guess I'll give up trying to address this because, as often happens on the internet, my words have been twisted into an argument that I am not trying to make, and nobody has an adequate explanation for why things were done as they were, concerning the agreements that had to be signed.

Then why make the recording stuff part of the agreement? Maybe the minicorps would like to arrange for their own professional recording of their show, and don't want another entity coming in and taking their opportunity to make up some of the money they lost by entering the competition in the first place and jumping through all the legal hoops that have been imposed on them. The agreement that DCA forced the minicorps to sign in order to enter the competition was not only sprung on them some months after some had signed up and paid in the first place but is a verbatim copy of what the corps that get paid have to sign. Maybe DCA should charge admission to the minicorps competition to get the money back (that isn't my problem and it isn't my point), but it is unfair that some performing groups have to pay while others get paid but they all have to sign the exact same agreement which implies that they have been paid for their performance. The agreement the minicorps had to sign should have been different from the one the other corps signed. DCA shouldn't have just got lazy and sent out the same agreement. Don't they have a lawyer or something that writes up these things for them?

What does that have to do with anything? DCA potentially makes a profit by selling the recordings of the minicorps.

How is it fair when everyone except the minicorps gets paid for their performance? It's pretty tough to make up the extra $1000 or more that these new regs cost and then have to pay DCA to perform, and also have to sign the exact same agreement for recording and distribution etc that the paid groups do. If the minicorps have to pay for their performance and also pay for the rights to record etc, then they should be able to record and sell their show as they wish and not hand it all over to DCA like the paid corps do. In fact DCA is not paying the corps for any recording rights so they shouldn't get them.

I liked the props. They told the story without detracting from the show like the narration that some of the jr corps are using do. You can either look at the little story line at the front or not (I missed some of the captions because I was watching the corps), and the backdrops add to the story as well. I tried to ignore that black door in the Cadets show the other night. The first time I saw them it was all I looked at for their whole entire show so I made a concerted effort to not do that the second time. It's just so difficult to see what the drill is doing with a great big door in the way IMO, but the way Empire did their props didn't interfere with the performance at all (ie it's not like anyone really needs to see the bottom of the podium anyway).

Those weren't excuses. You asked why there were holes in the Brigs and it was explained. I didn't think the low end was missing at all. Some of those individual contra players in the Brigs could be a contra line by themselves. Those are some wild contra parts.
