  1. Why on Earth would you want to go back to the old uniform or anything like it?

Much like the Troopers cavalry styled uniforms, Bayonne's Hats and yellow Coats, and of course the kilts with my beloved Kilties.. The renegades uniform set them apart, and was part of their identity, and frankly, was a part of their coolness.

There in fact a desperate need to get back to that classic identity.

  2. someone willing to underwrite it.

People seem to think DCA and DCi are sitting on all this money and can just open the checkbook, and boom, on tv.

not hardly how it works. Right now they are more concerned, rightly so, with funneling money back out to the corps. handling logistical issues, making sure people don't trash hotels or housing sites, things like that

or somone able to find commercial sponsors.. of course, presenting shows that that more people will find interesting to watch is key. 10 individual shows that would attract new fans? Did you see the Ohio State show? pretty kick ###.

The reality is, that if you put out a product that folks will want to watch.. that the general public will say. " Hey, that's pretty cool" some mor epeople will be willing to pay to see it. And if you can even get a little of that interest in the general public, you might be able to convince an even greater number of folks to be willing to watch it on TV.. or online.. but TV is better. or both if you can.. And if you can convince people to watch ... then folks willwant to sponser it.. We need a sponsorship by Miller, or Anheusier Bush.

Maybe a geek specialty channel like G4.

  3. Hey Carolina Gold!

I am looking for a good music store in Greensboro that offers guitar lessons. Best would be if their teachers have a degree.( looking for good teachers, not just the kid down the street who knows 3 chords to show ya)

It's for my cousins son who is like 10.

    Any suggestions?

  4. Isn't it just possible that some of the mistakes made in the first nights show, were corrected in rehearsal before the next days show? I know i corrected a missed horns down, amongst other things, and my knee did not do the "pop and crunch" that it did the first night which caused a bit of a stumble. If a good number of the corps all chose one thing from the night before and made sure they did that better, a 2 point jump is the least you could hope for.

these scores dont reflect potential.. just what we do with it on the field. that can change from night to night. That dosent de- legitimize the scores.

  5. The party's always over when someone mentions Hitler or the Nazis. It's a well known rule, you can probably find it on Wikipedia (true story).

Back on topic, check this note out from our accountant -

$7 x 400 members and 2,000 spectators would give DCA a gross profit of $16,800 per Crunchy Frog performance. Add in profit from Crunchy on-site merchandising, beverage sales, donations, a kissing booth, and any corporate endorsements, and I estimate that a one-time command performance by Crunchy Frog could bring in approximately $ 35,611.00 for DCA. Possibly more revenue if we had time to line up substantial corporate backers by Labor Day Weekend.

This, of course, does not take into account ancillary sources of revenue after the performance, such as DVD sales, Crunchy Frog action figures and toys, or other post-performance merchandising opportunities. If we played our cards right, we could possibly fund the entire next season of DCA with Crunchy Frog.

I am once again forced to point out...

I hate math. You should too.

    and Rich stomps them.

  6. First of all, we would not charge $5.00.

We would charge $ 7.00. :ninja:

  7. Im gonna guess that given the number of Sousy haters, not alot of brass band fans here.

It's sad really. Maybe check out Nat McIntosh, especially his work with Youngblood Brass Band.

    other bands worth checking out:

Mama Digdown, Soul Rebels, Rebirth, New Birth, Dirty Dozen, Hot 8, Inner City All Stars, Critical Brass, Jack, Stooges Music Group, and Free Agents.

  8. Some added info..

As mentioned the "conversion kit" for the k-90 isnt really made for it.. its made for the Olds ultra tone Piston/rotor horns. I ended up scraping my plans to convert my K-90 and just get it cleaned up becasue of the risk of screwing up the tone quality inherent in fooling with the bore sizes..

there is a way to do it i hear without those problems, using spare K-90 parts, and new tubing, but that entails getting those parts.( somthing i may look into in the future)

Also, the Dynasty/DEG horns are no longer made by Wilson. As a dealer, I learned a year or so ago that those are now made by Weril in Brazil, like the rest of the Dynasty brass.

I have had mixed experiences with the DEG horns over the years, generally actually liking the older ones a bit better.

just a bit of info i have picked up along the way.

  9. If there is anyone out there that has used the conversion kit from Kanstul to convert a K-90 to a 3 valver, the guy i have working on mine has run into an issue. I guess the tube connecting the 3rd valve to the horn itself dosnet size up properly. How is this worked around?? and is there any way to save the Ab slide( original lead pipe assembly)

any help would be wonderful. Pictures would be great too..

    thanks

    nuthin but love

(note to the Moderators, if you could let this stay in the All age forum for a bit , as well as the cross post in the brass forum, i figure it increases the chance of somone seeing this that has the information i need. if you could give me a week or so please, that would be great of ya. Peace)

  11. 17th! How dare you try and overshadow our 22nd place!

    #### Renegades... Always trying to be bigger and better than everyone else. We've worked hard for our 22nd place. Please don't steal our thunder.

Ahhhh there we go! no one has had any outrage, or even mock outrage at one of Lee's posts, in like , at least 10 hours. :P

and here's hoping that everyone is at their absolute best over labor day, cause, isnt it more fun to whoop up on someone , when you know they were at their best?

    nuthin but love

  12. I admit I am a bit confused as to why some feel the thread should be closed. Its a hype thread.. We start getting them around this time every year.. where somone comes on and talks up their corps, if thats their corps' style( some corps dont do the hype thing. Renegades do it, and do it well.. It may be part of why i enjoy them so much). Maybe throw in some "true and amazing tales" of hardships and adversity over come, through the season, and in general say how great it is to be them, and how much they are looking forward to being there and seeing everyone on the field at DCA weekend.

I suppose if like the director or somone feels that a hype thread is out of place, or it breaks some guidelines, but otherwise.. go team.

    so im confused.
