I’ve never missed an East show since 1990. Obviously, MANY memorable moments from all those years. But I have to say, that Bluecoats performance at Allentown yesterday is going to live in my memory forever!
I was at their ensemble yesterday afternoon, but the show last night was at a whole new emotional level and REALLY connected!! Awesome. And that was from the very top row at J. Birney Crum, standing up against the press box (with Steve Rondinaro looking out the window behind me).
What a great night!!-

My opinion is the witches are very effective on the field. They're bigger than life with those wide brimmed hats and their dancing without using flags/rifles etc. Very original idea and costuming.
The poem and the voiceover says “priests in black gowns, making their rounds”. Metaphorically, they can mean LOTS of different things, though!

Yes, the ending is changed. The staff are pleased with it and described it as “definitely better”, although I am honestly not sure WHAT is different, as I wasn’t familiar with the previous version enough to notice.

I really disagree with this statement! I love Boston, but they sound like Boston (and this is not a bad thing). Gino Cipriani certainly helps, but he doesn’t define their sound, because he isn’t the one writing the arrangements.
Cadets really sound like Cadets this year. Jay Bocook defines the modern “Cadet” sound, and Matt Stratton is bringing it to life (much like Gino did previously).

Where’s the 2024 thread? I kinda still wanted to discuss 2023, but it looks like you all have already moved on!
The more I think about it, I believe 2023 might be my favorite Crown corps ever!
