I think youâre onto something here, but perhaps not exactly what has been discussed so far. Â

Actually, I think itâs just the opposite. Â I believe objects in mirror are NOT as close as they appear. Â And thatâs not a knock on Blue Stars or Cavies!

Did anyone go to Ham Fam?Â
My mom and went! Â Judging by the t-shirts, just about everyone in there was going to the stadium tonight.

Odds of a delay are now 100%. Â Although itâs not actually raining, gates are postponed to open at 6:30 instead of 5:30 now. Â Keeping my fingers crossed for the storm to slide past, and nothing later!!

Who is there? What's the weather like?
Stadium was supposed to open at 5:30. Â Its now delayed until 6:30, due to âweather in the area of the stadiumâ. Â Itâs not raining, but itâs a bit dark. Â Looking at the radar, we are right on the edge of it.

Iâm putting myself on record to say this to anyone who might have gotten the wrong idea from me personally:
Please DO NOT attend ANY rehearsal where it is the expressed wishes/policy of the corps to have closed reahearsals! Â
Please DO NOT disrespect any corps.
I will be at Allentown this weekend. Â But I will NOT be attending any rehearsal or warmup that is supposed to be closed to the public. Â Out of respect for others, I WILL be wearing a mask. Â And I will also be purchasing numerous corps souvies. Â đ

Yeah, I hate the sort of 'if it doesn't medal, it's not a good design' mentality. Â Bloo is one of those corps that isn't afraid to go out and commit to an idea that imprints a whole new idiom on the activity. Â Sometimes they'll get rewarded by the judges with a medal, other times they won't. Â The crowd will still BLOOOOOOOOOOOO every time though.
LOVE the fact that you used the Star 90 comparison! Â Yessss!! Â An absolute classic, and the one I play most often from that year!
Youâre absolutely correct. Â A medal is great, but itâs not needed. Â

You likely got jumped on because you seem to be viewing this issue from YOUR perspective, as a spectator, and seemingly not from the perspective of the organization and the MM. Â History shows us that people break rules, all of the time. Â Sometimes for nefarious reasons, sometimes for innocent reasons, and sometimes just because of willful, selfishness, ignorance, or stupidity. Â That BD chooses to assume a level of risk, doesnât make the others wrong because they wonât. Â
Sadly, being dismissive of the risks increases the likelihood of confrontations, which is what i am SURE the corps are trying to avoid. Â Best to exclude everyone and not have to worry about it.Â
Iâm pretty sure the Blue Devils organization is NOT being dismissive of any risks. Â And Iâm also pretty sure they arenât âworriedâ.
Also, I never said any corps was wrong for closing rehearsals. Â I merely said itâs something they have to decide for themselves, and itâs a concerning trend (for reasons unrelated to COVID).

Itâs looking like the writing is on the wall for this show. I hope the members and staff know how much the audience loves them even if it appears the judges do not
First, judges opinions donât matter. Â Bluecoats have made their mark on drum corps history with this show!
Second, where did you get the idea the judges donât like Bluecoats this year?Â

Wow! Â Thatâs quite a leap there! Â Donât hurt yourself! Â
ÂAllowing folks in the open air stands, away from the field and ensemble/section practice areas, with NO interaction with members, staff, or support staff, with masks recommended HARDLY, equates with âdonât care about safety at allâ. Â
Thank you for repeating the point I already made. Â My whole point has always been, why would it be a problem to allow fans in the stands, not interacting with anyone?
People jumped on me for saying that. Â People start talking about safety, blah blah blah. Â People need to use some basic common sense.Â
Iâm pretty sure, if the most competitively successful corps has found a simple way to allow fans to watch, then itâs going to be fine.

"Bubbling" at this point makes total sense, even if it may seem overprotective to you. There have been outbreaks, corps with several blanks and trying to isolate infected members from the corps, etc....major problems....and cases have risen steadily......staff will be in the stands where those fans are "only" seated, and all it takes is for one infected (but unaware) fan to infect one staff person who is moving around.....better to be "too safe" at this point.....NOBODY WANTS this, but protecting the members so they have the best chance of finishing the season without an outbreak, is certainly not "elitist or short-sighted".....especially at this time.....
Well, the Blue Devils disagree. They are still allowing people in the stands at rehearsal. Â I guess this means the Blue Devils donât care about safety at all. Â I guess they want kids and staff to get infected so they canât finish the season.

Any insight into why the percussion score was so low at NightBEAT?
I was wondering the same thing. Did something actually happen? Is it going to be a trend for the remainder of the season, or was it just a "one-off" differing opinion from one night?

Trying to get a ticket for Allentown Friday night but having no luck with the DCI site. Â Is there a trick to it or is it sold out? I donât care where the seat is. Any advice is appreciated.
I have one. Â But just one. Â Itâs on the upper deck, top row, at about the 35-40 yard line. Â PM me if interested. Â Im not looking to profit on it!

People complaining or making excuses against these corps implementing extreme protocols don't give a sh about the activity or these kids. We should all want every member of every corps healthy and able to march, especially when Indy comes around. I see the groups surrounding batteries during their pre-show warm-ups and it makes me cringe. It's time to tell everyone to stay the he77 away.
Youâre way off base. Â You know nothing about me. Â To say I care nothing about the kids or the activity is absolutely wrong. Â And Iâm calling you out for it. Â You canât just assault my character because I have an opinion.

From and entertainment standpoint, the corps is doing its job and connecting with the audience. From a competitive standpoint, this show is getting eaten alive. The fact that there have been no major changes signals to me that the design team may have thrown in the towel and is trying to make the most with what theyâve got. Nothing wrong with that, it is what it is at this point. Â That said, this has been 6 years of subpar design that has to leave everyone wondering, does Crown still have it or are they in decline? How does this impact recruiting? Can percussion ever get above 6th place? Whatâs going on in brassland? Lots of questions to be answered, but it looks like the rest of the activity is passing Crown in terms of design, and it might be time to blow this thing up and start again. This is making Leon May look like a genius right now.Â
ÂIs Jim and Nancyâs way of running this organization finally catching up to them?Â
6 years of subpar design? Â Really? Â That is the most ridiculous thing Iâve heard in a long time. Â People are freaking out over a show thatâs really exciting and cool to watch! Â Calm down, folks. Â Itâs gonna be fine.

Totally understand your stance here, I just think with so many corps being competitive this year, it's really not worth risking the backtrack on progression a covid outbreak will ultimately bring.Â
It's a hard thing for a corps to manage as well, they have never had to do this before in regards to managing fan attendance at rehearsals. It's a bit easier to jist close to all than manage I guess?Â
This is easier for me to understand. i believe Boston mentioned that they just don't have the manpower to police it. I get that. Â
Like I said, every corps has to do what they feel is best. But the idea of closing rehearsals is still a trend that worries me, long term.

I really am not sure. Â Wouldnât be surprised to see SOMETHING happen. Â But the more I think about it, I donât think the word âconspiracyâ accurately describes something the organization would be engaged in.
