I think that's outdated information. It was scheduled that way early on in the Indy years due to another engagement being booked for Lucas Oil Stadium, but the other engagement canceled out, so DCI was still supposed to be back there in 2014. If that has changed as you say, then it really is a major announcement. But I doubt it.
Usually when DCI says major announcement, it's something tremendously exciting like a fundraising challenge.
Actually, it had nothing to do with the stadium at all. There was supposed to be a huge religious event in town, and the majority of hotel rooms were pre-booked. The conference was cancelled and all the rooms were released.

Yeah, the golden age of drum corps, when it was all for the kids: back when Tony Schlechta fixed the scores at Nationals, when the chief judge at a local show I marched in came up to our director as we were boarding our buses and took back the first place trophy we had won, after he decided to assess a penalty long after the show was over and the scores/placements had been announced.
Those sure were the good old days.

I'll have to agree with the poster who mentioned the guard outfits this year.
I don't know how anyone can think that they express the music in any way. The music is reverential (Adagio) or dark and aggressive (especially Medea) - how that color scheme and look even fits in is beyond me.
Not only do they look "clownish" the colors really clash with the corps proper.
I think that what they are being asked to do is mostly fine (with the exception of those poles in the ballad that add absolutely nothing) - but it's hard to match their outfits with what they are trying to represent - it's almost like they received the wrong uniforms and decided to just use them anyway. I think they should be 4th or 5th in guard - and that's great when you look at the absolutely extraordinary guards out there this year.
Guard outfit design has plagued Cadets on and off for a while now. They actually changed them during the year 2 times in recent years - I hope they do the same this year.

Between DeKalb and San Antonio, six of these corps' guards went up an average of 0.75...except The Cadets'. Their guard score dropped 0.3. What is Jackie's problem with The Cadets? Was she cut? They trashed her middle school at a housing event? George stood her up on a date?

less than 3 tenths of a spread is absolutely nothing here at this juncture. Nothing. Corps spreads can be a point and half away or so from another Corps and catch them at Semi's or Finals. 2 or 3 tenths is neither a time for hand wringing nor celebration for Corps this close in spreads. 2 or 3 tenths is nothing at all at this juncture.
Regiment was 0.8 down and in third place on Thursday night in 2008, 0.375 down and second on Friday, and 0.025 and in first on Saturday. 0.25 in July is nothing, if you think about it.
