  4. For the first time, the Sacramento Mandarins will be holding auditions for their 2010 summer guard in Southern California. This audition session will be held on Sunday, January 3, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Arroyo High School, 4921 Cedar Avenue, El Monte, CA. The Mandarins Guard staff includes George Armenta and Mindy Cobb, both on the staff of Arcadia High School color guard. The corps presently has the first two numbers of this year's show, Festive Overture and Libertango, on the field and would like to fill this last remaining brass spot as soon as possible. Color guard auditions will also continue at this camp given the conclusion of the winter guard season.   11. http://mandarins.org/ The Mandarins Launch New Web Site The newly redesigned website of the Sacramento Mandarins Drum and Bugle Corps goes live today on the World Wide Web. Mandarins.org aims to extend the reach of the Mandarins' programs by serving a broad audience of fans, supporters, members, and potential recruits. The new website features expanded content and streaming media including multimedia clips related to 45 years of rich performance history. The redesign incorporates bold colors and graphics and completely new navigational tools. "Our online visitors will now experience a more vibrant and seamless view of our informational resources," said Ray Mar, Corps Director. Design Team G.M. Art & Design, led by Gregory Mar and Daisuke Sakurai, has been developing the new design over the past several months, working with the Mandarins' staff to better support the Corps' multifaceted mission. "This new design was created specifically for their online audience of visitors, members and parents, fans, and potential recruits," says Gregory. "Packed with multimedia, news, and stories that will be constantly updated, the website will help make the Mandarins' extensive resources more attractive and accessible. We will be adding video blogs from tour throughout the summer to make it easier for fans to stay in touch with the Corps — so stay logged in!" About the Mandarins Founded in 1963, the Sacramento Mandarins provide the ideal balance of education, family values, personal time, and the blending of Asian traditions with drum corps. The Mandarins are committed to the growth of the lives of young people through a commitment to youth development and performance excellence while providing enjoyment for the Sacramento community and audiences worldwide. The Sacramento Mandarins will be holding their December Audition Camp on the weekend of December 13/14 (color guard on Sunday December 14 only) at Cosumnes Oaks High School, 9850 Lotz Parkway, Elk Grove, CA. The Sacramento Mandarins will be holding brass, percussion and color guard (weapon) workshops on Sunday, November 30, 2008, 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm, at Beyer High School, 1717 Sylvan Avenue, Modesto, CA 95355. These events will be held free of charge. The day will focus on developing technical skills not only to prepare potential members for the Mandarins Audition Camps, but to offer an opportunity to further develop overall performance abilities.
