  1. In summary.

Comparing last years tour of champions show to this years.

I did not see the excitement in the crowd that I did last year. Last year the corps seemed to be on the road to recovery in the entertainment and connecting with the audience. Last year was full of standing O's. This year lots of golf claps and not many Standing O's.

What happened to the instant encores? Last year people were on DCP raving about how much fun they were and how it added so much more to the festivities. I know several peeps that received comment cards from DCI on last years show and I know DCI got the message. I know last years show went about a hour longer but it was well worth it.

The mass corps at the end was fun to watch. Loved it. Note to the Trumpets. Don't try for notes you don't own. Leads sounded pinched off and airy big time. It was right down embarrassing.

Completely agree with your comment about the excitement level ... I will say I enjoy seeing the Corps in a open stadium ... it's something about the lighting that is totally different than in a dome. Flag colors pop ... Corps uniforms shine ... etc.

  2. Glad you loved their show.

You have the right attitude. Cadets placement is likely not going up based on what I saw last night. Lots of grumbling in the stands after the show about execution and overall the crowd seemed bored with the show.

Honestly, I thought The Cadets seemed very tired last night ... I think the 34 show schedule has taken a toll.

  3. They had one California show on June 18, and then returned to the U.S. in Kalamazoo, Michigan on July 15. This gave them just 14 shows prior to the World Championships. And some fans are chiding them for having 24 shows prior to Indianapolis this year. (It was earlier stated they had just 23 shows, but the corps' schedule on DCI.org lists 24.)

BD gets a free pass for 2005 ... they were REPRESENTING the activity in Europe

    Not apples to apples

  4. They do it out of deference to those of us on DCP. They know we need something to talk about. They love us and they want us to know they love us. Imagine a world where Blue Devils are not a topic of conversation. I don't want to live in such a world...do you?

Well, to not make light of the issue … it does seem unfair that Regiment traveled out to California and is pulling their weight for Drum Corps International and the activity … while BD takes off 5 days to practice. The Blue Devils could have easily marched at Santa Clara’s contest and the Oceanside contest.

  5. I've said this every year for awhile, but I hope to see Finals streamed live.

Be it part of the subscription, as an incentive for buying the Blu-rays, or as an optional extra cost. I honestly think DCI is missing out revenue by not streaming Finals, and as someone who lives in Southern CA and will definitely not be going to Finals this year, I would LOVE to give DCI money while streaming Finals live

Totally agree ... this just might be the year I have to miss finals because of a conflict. I would absolutely pay a premium to watch the top 12 at home.

I think I started sending messages around 2007 about just announcing the finals scores live … I’m glad they finally did that last year!

  6. :worthy:

My first finals was 1984 in ATL. I've been a Cadets fan ever since (even when they had a singer on the field). So very happy for them and for DCI. As was stated here the top 12 (and beyond) were amazing. Easily the best finals I've ever been to from top to bottom.

It all started for me as well while watching the 1984 Cadets!

I'm so thrilled and happy I got to see you take the Gold last night ... it's been 18 years since I've seen you win a Championship in person, so The 2011 Cadets will always mean something special ...

Thanks for your encore performance ... what a great performance! :worthy:

  7. Think it needs to be said again ... Jwillis35 mentioned this in the "Semi" thread, but the Contra member did recover quickly and positioned himself spot on to step into the arch that moves into the company front ...

Even though many of us saw him go down, the zipper line actually hid him to a degree ...

I attended the majority of the Quarterfinals, but only watched the top 8 last night ...

The falls I saw yesterday ...

Boston Snare go down ... actually thought he was hurt ...

    Cavies member go down

    Cadet Tuba/Contra ...

  8. Ok,should I dare mention that Bands of America offers National Finals with their Fan Network? :lookaround:

Which I do believe their Fan Network and DCI's are one in the same ...

I know DCI wants as many fans in the Stadium as possible, but it's just not festible for me to continue to make time for Championship week ...

I'm probably taking a break after 4 years in the great state of Indiana ...

Guess it will be Quarters at Regal, Semi-Finals on the PC and Finals on DCP/Twitter next year

  9. Below was listed originally for the 2011 Fan Network ...

Does anyone know why is the Open Class Finals no longer a option to purchase?

Also, looks you can watch Finals live if you purchase the Blu-ray or the DVD of finals?

If anyone has any extra info, thanks!!!

  11. I know huh? Everyone says they're going to boycott, and then they sell out the shows.... Hypocrisy is fun. But back to the show, is this one still going on? Or have they called this one?

Agree ... the TOC show in Murfreesboro was packed!

One of the largest DCI crowds ever at MTSU ... and I might add most folks were in their seats for the first corps ... which was Nashville's Music City!

Too bad no finale ... was great to the eyes and ears ...
