SCV really moved me in Murfreesboro.....what an absolutely beautiful program.
Welcome back to DCP!
-
When I was at Boro the most popular shows seemed to be Bluecoats and Phantom Regiments'. Crown an SCV were also popular.
Sat at the very top of the Stadium in Murfreesboro both nights ... full view of the crowd ...
Thursday Night ... SCV's show was by far the most popular ... crowd was on their feet during the last push to the end ...
Friday night ... Cadet's had several folks on their feet through out their performance and a full Standing O at the end ... Regiment big standing O at their end ... BUT Boston seem to have the biggest crowd response at the end of their performance ...

you should call back and see if you can trade them.
edit: look at the seating chart / stadium map and ask about specific sections. Don't get "best available".
Yes, call them back... but be prepared to ask for the exact area you want ...
As long as Ticketmaster has not printed and mailed the tickets, they will do this ...
Or they did this for me in the past (for a non-DCI event) ...
Good Luck!

So was there not one DCPer there last night? I can't believe no one will say how the new Crown or SCV ending was? Anybody??????
Santa Clara's new ending --- Breath taking ... crowd was on their feet during the last big push …
Crown's new ending ---- Dirty, you could tell the new drill was throwing them off … IMHO, I’m not sure if the new ending works …

During the commentary of Crown’s San Antonio performance, the Staff pointed out that the last minute or so would be completely different … it was the last time that version would be performed.
It was all changing starting Sunday.

All of the corps perform in both Dallas and Houston. Same judges both nights in the respective cities? Are they averaging the scores from both nights? Are they taking the highest scores? Will they have the expanded percussion judges for the Dallas and Houston shows, or just the San Antonio show.
Thanks for anyone that has the answers.
Mike
From DCI.org
Saturday's lineup will include a 4 p.m. opening performance by the San Antonio-based Open Class corps, Revolution, followed by 21 of DCI's 22 World Class corps that are taking part in the competition.
The order of performance for the DCI Southwestern Championship will be determined Friday night after the scores from the Southwestern Series events in Dallas and Houston have been tabulated. At the end of the San Antonio event, a 2009 Southwestern Champion will be crowned and caption award-winners based on averages from all of the series events will be recognized.

Thought about driving down to Hotlanta for the day ...
Sounds like it would have been worth the time on the road!
Thanks!

Hopkins made a controversial show design decision by not having a ballad, nor a drum solo.
Are you referencing their 2003 or 2009 show?

Nobody call's her out in public and doesn’t have to answer for it. t.

Segment was covering different broadcasts at the movie theater -- for DCI quarter-finals.
BUT! The reporter referenced DCI as "the Championship for marching bands!"

The Dekalb Memorial Stadium -- The worse stadium I’ve experienced as a fan was in 1996 -- the “Drums Across America” show in the Atlanta area – on August 10th .
The stadium was just a mess – the bleacher seats had been taken out, so there was only uneven concrete for seats – paper marked the seating numbers – wind blew many markers from the correct placement.
Nightmare!! It was hot (no surprise), no seats, etc.
Do not believe DCI ever returned to the stadium.

I just watched at lunch....Steve said that either Phantom, BD, or Cadets could win with the performances they just put on the field. I didn't have time to throw in the 1996 Cadets...how was that show compared to the other two....I don't hear much about it??????It was a solid show, but they peaked about 2 weeks early and faded.
Cadets were solid that year, but I think the time they spent preparing for the Atlanta
Olympics that summer took some wind out of their sail.
The Cadets did a great job representing Drum Corps on that Olympic world stage.
Phantom’s 1996 show is one of my personal favorites! Amazing performance!

Loved Phantom's show and was very happy they won finals -- great to see in person --
Just a couple of design issues:
1. Rifles used by the guard -- enough said there.
2. The Capes for the conductors of Phantom ---
Will Pitts should have worn Purple and the two other conductors should have been in red, etc.
Purple represented a higher standing -- the color was just harder to make/produce.
I live with a History Buff, so that was pointed out at finals

I had a feeling Tom was retiring, but I didn't know about Neil
Agree -- reading Hop's Blog through out the season -- he mentioned several times -- Tom's desire to spend more time with his family.
