  1. Great time last night in the Boro which is my hometown!

The stadium is an awesome venue!

    Great Crowd!

    Rain held off!!!

Not bad temps for summer time in the south, but humid.

Every Guard had issues last night ...

Guess my biggest surprise of the evening was the crowd reaction to the Blue Devils -- really flat -- individual performance issues -- saw some folks out of step -- crazy to see in BD -- love the first part of their show -- we'll see how they do in Hotlanta tonight.

Phantom, Cavies and Crown had the best reactions from the crowd -- in that order. Agree how close Phantom iwas to the Cavies -- thought Crown's score needed to be higher, but I had Phantom over Crown.

Cadets actually had a good response from the crowd -- 65% standing O --- before they move into the  ending. Narration is much better, but not great -- killing the flow -- My Sister cried at the end with the little girl running out of the field -- 5th place is the Cadets' spot at this point.

Bluecoats really have cleaned their show -- just all smiles there for me -- enjoyed the performance.

SCV -- I LOVE THIS SHOW!! -- the middle section of the show is just SEXY! Marching dirt is holding them back.

Blue Knights had a good run last evening -- show is growing on me -- much better in person.

Once again -- great evening in Murfreesboro -- good preview for me -- I'll see some of you in Bloomington!!!! First finals since 2003!!!

  2. Okay, for those of us that are completely ignorant (maybe it's just me), please explain what the deal is with the "top 8". The top 8 from what? What if a corps is in the "top 8" and are no where near Murfreesboro, do they have to haul butt to get there so they can perform? I don't understand.

The 8 highest placing Corps at the San Antonio Regional move to the Masters show -- so at that point in time - and they march in reverse order of placement in Texas.

  3. Read this last week ...

For the following week’s event in Murfreesboro, the top eight from San Antonio will appear in reverse order at the Masters of the Summer Music Games on Friday, July 25.

The results of those 8 corps will be drawn in the same groups of 1-2-3, 4-5-6 and 7-8 for performance times in Atlanta the following evening at the DCI Southeastern Championships in the Georgia Dome.

The results in Atlanta will determine the order of appearance in Allentown on August 1-2, and even though it is a split line up between Friday and Saturday night, the draw in the groups of threes through the whole DCI lineup will apply.

Lastly for DCI World Championship Quarterfinals, the order of appearance is determined by averaging the scores from Orlando/Denver, San Antonio, Atlanta, and Allentown. There will not be a draw so corps will appear in reverse order of that which is determined by the average.

  4. This is also from DCI.org -- without times --

Listed in reverse order of performance

    Blue Stars - LaCrosse, WI

    Crossmen - San Antonio, TX

    Spirit - Jacksonville, AL

    Glassmen - Toledo, OH

    Colts - Dubuque, IA

    The Cadets - Allentown, PA

Carolina Crown - Ft. Mill, SC

    Bluecoats - Canton, OH

    Boston Crusaders - Boston, MA

    Teal Sound - Jacksonville, FL

  5. But back to the topic, I don't believe that (from what I've heard) the Cadets were trying to imply that happiness was found in a homosexual relationship, but it wouldn't surprise me to see something similar to this in a future show.

I really like pointing this out -- you're about 14 years behind --- :lookaround:

1994 Cadets "West Side Story" Show -- section "I have a Love" and "Somewhere" --- 9:51 on the DCI video stream -- the pairing of Male/Male and Female/Female couples.

I still can't believe they got that one by!!

I first noticed the pairing at the DCI show in Atlanta -- Tara Stadium -- I just sat there with a big smile on my face -- how cool was that!! :lookaround:

And yes, I've seen it in other shows from other corps.

  6. I marched a show (Suncoast 88) that if the internet was around 'back in the day' would probably have generated a thread or two. I don't know that I would have been able to restrain myself reading some of the stuff you guys have to read. So, props to you.

Have to agree with you there -- I remember after your performance at DCI South Finals, I said out loud to my friends, "wow, that was amazing."

Then, I looking around -- most folks were just shacking their heads, saying, "What was that??"

The 1988 Suncoast Show is one of my favorites.

    Times have changed. :lookaround:

  7. OK, I'll get it started; who watched the Cadets debut on the web tonight?

    Ok, I'll go ...

They’re referencing National Public Radio again this year – the show – “This American Life.”

Ira Glass (character) is interviewing Sarah (character) about her pursuit of happiness during her lifetime. They are both center field on a stage – chairs, window, etc.

At this point, there is still plenty of narration within the program. There seems to be as much narration included this year as “This I believe.” From the preview, “American Elegy” includes a significant amount of narration.

Much more details of the 4 part show --- I’ll let someone else address the details.

Corps sounded incredible – the drill looks challenging and awesome.

Guard seems to be much ahead of last year’s crew.

I'm looking forward to see 'em live.

  8. At least I can fast forward through the Cadets performances. There is no way I can sit through "the friggin' zone" again...

Hey, DVD players are different than VHS players -- look at your remote -- it's should have a skip button included.

Now you know that, you can totally miss video of something that is so painful for you.
