  1. :) Lou have faith. they are smarter then you think.. :P besides they are CBA so any god fearing person would know that a bunch of big ### horn blowing mofu's would happily beat them down if they screwed around. and laugh about it at the same time... :worthy: b**bs ^0^

I have a lot of faith! YOU guy are the ones throwing the match. Not them!

  2. Hey lovies! The female members of Mon Valley Express Drum and Bugle Corps. (BlondeContra and myself) are putting together a calendar to help raise money for 3 Super Mags. We would like to put one together with all the DCA Contra Chicks. If you would like to contribute a picture you/your section/ your corps please message us and we will send you one free of charge. Please keep the pictures at least PG-13. A simple homemade calendar that will run from September 2006 to August 2007 and they will be distributed at DCA Championships. Thanks for your attention!

I hope you guys know you are throwing a match to a barrel of aircract fuel!

  3. It is depressing to me that Western PA has been unable, (since SCA) to field a competitive senior corps.

I love that the alumni corps is still up and running. I just wish there was a DCA rep from that area

    once again.

    Rocketman - '73

Since the death of the Steel City field Corps there has been from the Western PA area.......

The Enforcers (were out Competing in DCI then became the Golden Lancers)

Golden Lancers (folded but were out Competing in DCI)

Butler Vagabonds (rebuilding again but were out Competing in DCI)

Sound Wave (folded but were out Competing in DCA)

Nightstorm (folded but were out Competing in DCA)

G Force (folded but were out Competing in DCA)

Mon Valley Express (Still Going, Stronger than ever AND competing in DCA)

Dude....where in Western PA are you looking and NOT seeing someone trying to make Drum Corps work? Some of the Corps were more competitive than others, but they were all out there doing it. Most failed the test of time because they were trying to be SCA all over again. Some failed due to SCA problems coming back to haunt them. The big "E" esecially.

Wait and see what the new kids on the block have to offer.

    We may un-depress you.

  4. 1984 Steel City Ambassadors, Montclair NJ show.

the third DM was given the chance to bring the corps onto the field and direct opener. His directing voice was absolutley unintelligible - couldn't distinguish between 'attention', 'dress' or ' I slept in a Holiday Inn last night'. Ended up with half the corps at ready, the other half at rest. Instead of fixing it, he started the show with half the corps, the rest catching up to the drill about 10 measures in, and the music near the end of the opener.

Someone else can remember why, but somehow we were given a second chance to perform at the end of the show, and that score counted.

John, that was 85. My first (and 2nd) Show back from Garfield. b**bs

  5. Seems odd that we would go on first at all of our shows if this was by blind draw!!!!

Or was the order determined for ALL shows based on one draw?

There was a draw for each show. Except for Manassas if you look at the schedule, Mon Valley is on first in every show we are in.

  6. A rare experience, at least for our corps, has come about within the last few weeks. The Erie Thunderbirds have for years been blessed with a great arranger/instructor/soloist in Jeff Gibbens. Most recently we have procurred the services of Mr. Donny Allen (DA as he is known affectionatly). Talk about the DUO from ####. What one set of ears and eyes doesn't hear or see the other does. Perfect compliments with the same interpratation (spl.)

of the music but each with a uniquely different teaching style that for some reason seems to bring out the best in all of us.

Have you ever had this experience. Just curious.

1986 and 87. Steel City Ambassadors

    Walt Street and Larry Tinnerman.

The best in technical and visual music every way you put it. I have played with several great horn lines but few better than that one.

  7. In a similar vein:

This one happened in 1991. In Pittsburgh, WQED (PBS affiliate) delayed the DCI Finals broadcast one day (to Sunday). They did this so they could insert pledge breaks. During one pledge break, they proudly announced a donation from someone with the Steel City Ambassadors Senior CITIZENS Drum and Bugle Corps.

(I was waiting for someone else to say this happened to their corps, since it seems an easy mistake to make, but I was surprised no one else has.)

Dale, I was the one that called in and corrected that! I laughed when I heard it.
