Tuba92, try a few places out and try to get a feel for the corps. Going to a camp will help you get a feel for the corps and the other members in it.
Don't forget a couple things, be yourself and do your best.
Oh ya, have fun !!!
-
Nice addition to your brass staff.
Good luck next year.

Back in the 80's, we were just about to enter the field for competition and the announcer says over the PA :
"Mike Hunt please go to the box office !"
-
Sharon Osborne has no idea what talent is cause she's been smoking some of Ozzie's cigarettes or whatever he smokes !!
Can someone tell me something, why are there two British judges on an American show ? Surely you have more people than Paul and Randy who can judge !!!
-
I may be wrong but didn't Kavies have a kidet corps for a short period of time in the 70"s. Ontario was a hotbed in the late 70's and early to mid 80's
Kiwanis had a small feeder drum corps they called the "APPLE CORE", for one year then they were eaten up by the Kavaliers.

Oh I know. He did a phenominal job with Dutch Boy last year.
Will he be with DUTCH BOY next year ?
Or is this going to be his TOP priority next year ?
-
a bunch of memorable ones I keep seeing:
- what's louder? G or Bb? (not so much these days but it lasted a good 5 years until it died down)
This died down because everyone from the 70's -early 90's knows that G's outplay trumpets by a frigging country mile !!!

I'd like to see what Phantom could do with "The Barber of Seville" !!!!
Near the end they could have a guy in the barber's chair and then the barber could slit his throat with a razor blade.
Something dark and mysterious so they could wear their black uni's again. LOL

How about this before we had a food trailer:
Green roast beef from a "can" with a key !!!
They had lots left over too !!
-
Some words from way back:
Zah - pizza
hagaburgers - something that looks like hamburgers but tastes "REAL BAD" !!
ticker - someone who is constantly making mistakes
frizbees - large pancakes that are stiff, fly great across the field and are totally unedible !
zombie - a person who doesn't pay attention when being told what to do
nimrod - self explanitory
I'll think of some more later.

Kitchener, Ontario from 1972-1978 had 4 drum corps all active at the same time. The population of Kitchener in 1976 was
100,000.
1972 to 1976
Kiwanis Kavaliers,
Ventures,
Flying Dutchmen
Dutch Boy Cadets
1977 to 1978
Kiwanis Kavaliers,
Ventures,
Cadets of Dutch Boy (Different from Dutch Boy Cadets),
Northstars (merger of Flying Dutchmen & Dutch Boy Cadets.)
2008
Dutch Boy.
My how times have changed.

This is something that we will NEVER know.
Let's concentrate on how many titles PHANTOM REGIMENT will win !!!!
-
I still think they wanted the Colts to be the first event in there.
That's why the field WASN'T READY for this years Championships !!
-
Keep in mind too, that Chicago's proposed Olympic budget is a mere $5 billion vs. Beijing's $40 billion. An American-as-apple-pie, self-supporting organization with a pre-produced show easy on pricey special effects might be an attractive proposition to the city organizers. ...Though by 2016, laser light shows and jet packs may standard fare for drum corps.
I think that $ 5,000,000.00 is their Olympic bid budget !!!
I would think that their actual Olympic budget would be MORE that Beijing's 40 billion.
(ah, to be a tax payer in Chicago in 8 years !!) NOT !!!

I say either "General Putnams Men" or the "Eye Openers" from Iowa.
Geno, you are the master of sarcasm !!
You are kidding...right ?

After seeing and hearing the Troopers Alumni Weekend on Fan Network, I would love to see the TROOPERS ALUMNI corps perform at Semis.
After seeing them in the late sixties and early seventies, these guys were my ultimate future corps to march with, I never did though.
You want to see tears in the stands ? Let the TROOPERS ALUMNI CORPS perform some time very soon !!!

Hey Jeff, didn't you Bingo get it a few years ago when a Indian reservation in your area got permission to have their own bingo or casino ?
This is a real kick in the head.
Would a letter to Mr. Schwartzenager (sp) be of any help ?
-
Yeah I think that about covers it.
It's just kind of funny because John Meehan was the one that arranged the current version of America. You think they might want to make their own caption head look good by playing it well... but they don't.
Come to think of it I didn't hear "Oh Canada" in there at ALL !!
-
Hard to understand what you really mean... i personally know both head drum majors from BDB and Vanguard Cadets. both worked their tails off. Also, your book does not really matter to anyone marching, only their book matters, and in that book 2nd place is a loss. BDA does not consider the season a "win" neither does BDB and both corps will do everything they can to prepare and win next year. Both corps are justifibly proud of what they accomplished, but BDB definitely does not feel like they won, in spite of what you think that they should feel. And, we are talking about young kids here, so expecting them to always take your mature and superior attitude. Some will react like the young teens that they are.
All the corps worked their tails off this season, not just SCVC and BDB !! I didn't get a chance to see any drum corps this year except on DCI Fan Network.
Kid in every corps no matter what place they ended up in, work extremely hard every year. Some succeed some don't.
Every corps that competes, has a goal to win every year, just one corps wins. You can't diminish their effort of the other corps because they didn't win.
As long as you try your best, that's all anyone can expect.
I can't wait to see what these kids do next year.
-
Thought twice about it...forget it !
-
What do you mean by this post topic with saying "Now that Phantom has won their first "solo" title." Are you saying 1996 doesn't count? I'm so sick of hearing that. They have won 2 titles. Period. How come no one discounts the BD title that year, or any other corps who has tied at the top?
[/quote
Don't get you underwear in a knot here, relax....breathe.
I have been a Phantom fan since I first saw them on PBS in 1975. I love their choice to play classical music every year, I love it.
I wasn't saying that Phantom's first title in 1996 doesn't count, by any stretch of your imagination. It's just so much nicer when you're the only top banana.
What I meant by that was, that this year there is no doubt that they are the WORLD CHAMPION !!
I have heard from drum corps fans that cheer for Phantom and Blue Devils, their corps should have won the 1996 on their own and that no tie should have happened.
I hate it when there is a TIE for the top spot.
I also hope that in the future that if someone has a QUESTION from something I have posted that you email or PM me for my response. Thanks.

to your questions...
I don't know
and
I don't know
which is exactly why it won't happen right away, but I can promise you this... the right people are already asking the right questions and my "I don't knows" should quickly turn to firm answers...
We have about 10 work days till championships... it would be unrealistic to promise anything for this year.
Keeping my fingers crossed !!!

World's largest drum escortee
Imagine breaking this frigging drum head just before a show !!!!

DCA Does Not Have SEMIS.
